VISIONING STATEMENT Technology is advancing every day, we can create new technology to better the world and assist other parts of the world that need to progress, but we need to be very wary of the things we create, because being helpful they can also destroy everything we have accomplished. By creating new technology it may advance our race as we know it, but the already underdeveloped countries are going to suffer for than they already have. If we as human do not try to co-exist with all other human on the planet it could cause turmoil and suffering on a much larger scale than we have ever seen. ENERGY, OUR PRODUCTION AND CONSUMPTION Energy plays one of the biggest roles in our lives. Everything we use in our world and societies use some form or another of energy.
A computer is defined as a device that can be programmed to do a set of logical and arithmetic operations . As technology grows exponentially, many believe that in a near future it will acquire a consciousness of its own, thus becoming a fetish; but how can we give a machine something that we its creators cannot even understand? Enhancing humans’ physical, psychological, and intellectual capabilities with technology will not improve society. Technology’s capacity is determined by the knowledge of its creators; therefore, it will never be able to surpass our given impeccable capabilities. Today, many who people idolize technology do not realize that they have a possession much more powerful attribute than any technological device.
Mr. Carr uses the example of how information technology will be much like electricity in the fact that eventually it will become a commodity. But this is not true, because information technology is always changing. Today, almost as an instinct, we are constantly looking for new solutions or more efficient or easy ways of doing things. We are very reactionary in how we create innovations. As we have the need to adapt to nature or problems from past technologies, we are constantly evolving and updating ourselves to the unforeseen future.
Technology has come in to play a role in religion, science, and even the imitation of humankind. Today it is hard to find one thing that technology does not play a role in. With technology there is always progress and until the end of time it will always be in motion. Recently, I have had to do some research concerning the progress of technology and it¹s effects on humankind throughout history. Throughout my research one thing became obvious to me and that is technology, in a short period of time, has progressed drastically.
The newness of the next millennium assumes a supreme and inevitable reign of technology in every aspect of research and pedagogy. Thus we seem to be preparing for this promised event caught between two emotions: a desire to master technology and an anxiety of failure. However, if we think the next century only in terms of technologized pedagogy and scholarship, we are not thinking sufficiently the significance of the end of old and coming of the new. We lack, as finite beings, the prophetic vision of foreseeing the future, yet as beings of reason we can contemplate about the end. What is coming to an end is comedia itself.
The thing is, how far the future technology can go and when and where the end of the inventions of technology. Without technology, I cannot write this discussion easily and I need to use my hand to write. There is a lot of dangers posed by the future technology that we can found. Remember, do not to obsess on the technology until the technology can overtake our life and control us. It is true that the future technology shows us that the world has changed into a new era.
By 'Science Fiction' I mean Jules Verne, H.G.Wells and Edgar Allan Poe type of story. A charming and romanced intermingled with scientific fact and prophetic visions. A few modern examples of popular Science Fiction films is 'Terminator, The Rise of The Machines', 'I robot' which is based on machinery and hit the box office records. This shows us that Science Fiction Genre is even popular today. The connection between the writer H.G.Wells and the Science Fiction Genre was that H.G.Wells was a philosopher who predicted the future before it actually happened.
We cannot predict what will happen from the technology that we are so dependent on now a days. It might be for good or it might be for bad. I generally speaking think that technology can help us evolve. The possibilities you can take technology is endless well until you run out of resources in the next million years or two but yeah. Technology could lead us to possibilities that we thought were just impossible.
From catastrophic cyberpunk to futuristic space opera, science fiction texts remain perennial favourites with readers. Science fiction extends scientific principles in a fictional sense to form the plot while catering to society’s ever changing scientific interests. Early sci-fi employed slow-paced storylines and wishfully extrapolated every technological breakthrough. However, more recent texts have a stronger foundation in scientific theory, and serve as a critical mirror to the advances of humanity. Despite the constant revolution of the sci-fi genre, good science fiction is and always will be characterised by scientific principles, creative fiction and analytical social commentary.
After all that we have accomplished from the invention of the computer, it is no wonder that we as a society see no end to the future in developing more sophisticated programming for the computer. Some people think that one day we all will have a computer chip under our skin for people to recognize us. I am not sure if that kind of idea would be a good one, but just imagine if they are one day able to do that then there is no telling what the future holds for us.
