It is really not an easy task to prepare an efficient project team. It requires lots of efforts, patience and expertise in identifying the right kind of people and to place them at the right job to get the maximum utilization and output. After reading all the five important steps to winning a project team, it can be said that all these steps need to carry out very carefully to get the best results. I believe that most easy step is to celebrate the success of the project. If a project is completed successfully, it is easy to give credit to all the teams for their hard work and dedication. Such type of the appreciation motivate the team members and encourage them to do their job effectively in future.

Both the articles are partially similar and partially different. First of all, we can compare similarities of both the articles. Both the articles defined the importance of the selection of the right team members and the importance of the communication among them. It is found out that the selection of the right people for the project team are major pillars of the success of the project. Both the article share partial similar information for the success of the project.
The main difference between these two articles is that 5 steps to winning a project team defined about the success of a project while 5 essentials to project team success focus only the team members and the issues related to them. In article 1, it is important to follow the steps for the success of the project. It helps the manager to follow the guidelines from scratch to end for starting a project. But article 2 defines the issues and solution related to the management of the team
Flexibility: The basis of agile is to accommodate change as software related projects are constantly changing. If there were a change in market or the emergence of a new product, the product could be easily updated. It also enables new ideas and innovation to be implemented mid-project even after the scope has been defined.
When composing a team, your ideal team will consist of individuals who have the skills and experience to accomplish the task, as well as, the motivation needed to be successful. (Dyer, 37) Team composition is the configuration of a team, normally based on attributes of the team and the task given. The team leader’s job is to identify those individuals who will benefit the team in completing the task. Effective team leaders set the clear vision of the team’s goal, establish a clear direction towards achieving the goal, motivate team members, include the ideas and opinions of team members in decision making, and coaching those who struggle through to success. According to our text, Communicating at Work, an effective team has eight characteristics. These characteristics are: clear and inspiring shared goals; a results driven structure; competent team members; unified commitment; collaborative climate; standards of excellence; external support and recognition; and principled leadership. A group goes through four stages in becoming an effective team; forming, storming, norming, and performing (Adler and Elmhorst, 240, 251). Most of the characteristics of an effective team are brought to the team by one or more members, others are formed during the development process.
From the lessons, I have been able to understand various methods and procedures in managing a project team. My lecturer gave a brief introduction of the topics which are going to be discussed in the 2nd course “Managing the Project team”. I was excited to go through those topics as some of the terms were familiar to me.
A team whose club, length and resources fit the assignment desirable leadership and attention to Team-constructing dedication through Team individuals to apprehend and become aware of with each other's dreams the improvement of team desires. These may include: 1. A shared vision a feel of not unusual possession of the assignment at hand and joint responsibility for its achievement co-ordinate effort and planned sharing of obligations, 2. The team members should know how important a project is to the company and stride to achieve the goals in a professional manner. Each member should contribute one hundred and ten percent of their input to the group to make the project the best that it can be. Teamwork is classified as people with different strengths and skills who work together to achieve a common goal. When a team works well, specific objectives are fulfilled and satisfied. Teamwork plays a crucial role in implementing and fulfilling a common goal in a team project. Each member plays a role and takes on different responsibilities combined together. In different stages of teamwork, conflicts and arguments may occur for as members have different standpoints which need to be harmonized within the team. The key to having an effective teamwork is to explore each member's unique abilities to motivate them.
Teams have been around for many years. It is vital for members who are a part of any team to work together so that their labor is not in vain. A major advantage for working cohesively as teams is greater output and interpersonal skills. The drawback of not working in uniformity can lead to project delays and time constraints. Organizations create teams with the purpose of fulfilling certain obligations and acquiring business success. Roming (1996) states that togetherness and dependability means that members within the team assist each other and the team. Which in turn, yields a better-quality product.
Many times people forget that teamwork is a combination of the words TEAM and WORK. Which means it takes more than a combined group of people or a team, but it takes that and actions. Positivity, effective skills and effort from each group member. A good team member does their share of work in the group. equity and fairness are key in being a good team member also. A few other characteristics that help a group be successful are , positivity, complimenting other members, communication skills and fairness. There isn’t much that is needed to gain success as a team. As long as everyone is on the same page, and focuses towards wanting the same end result, it is very easy to gain success. Some of these features include: Shared Goals, Productivity, Understanding the different roles, Good communication, Personal growth and recognition, Team spirit and mutual respect and Staying open to ‘outsiders’. When all, if not most, of these features taken into account, it makes it very easy to gain a successful team as well as gain a successful outcome. Below I have listed each feature with what they mean.
The components of a good team should be considered. First, a high-performance team must have strong core values to guide attitudes and behavior consistent with the team's purpose. The members should know why the team is created and why he or she is on the team. Secondly, a team should have specific performance objectives. Members should know exactly what they are trying to accomplish. This also includes having standards for measuring results and ways of obtaining performance feedback. A good team will make members realize the importance of collective efforts. Third, a high-performance team has the right mix of skills. These involve technical, interpersonal, decision-making, and problem-solving skills. No one needs to know how to do it all, but each member should be able to contribute to the group....
It causes them to think, plan and make decisions according to the team. In the past teamwork culture has taken a backseat. However with changing times, organizations understood the importance of nurturing and promoting the culture of teamwork (p.1). In order to promote teamwork, management leaders need to clearly communicate to everyone that the expectation of exceptional work is not just an individual level but at a team level and collaboration is expected out of every team (p.2). Teams that are demonstrating teamwork should be recognized. According to Conway (n.d) “ set expectations that bonuses, rewards, or compensation will vary depending on the collaborative practices adopted and followed by each team along with the individual achievements and contribution as a team member (p.2). Management should also share the outstanding achievements with other teams and organizations, so that people feel encouraged to participate and nature the team work culture
A team is a group of people with a full set of complementary skills required to complete a project. Team members work toward a common goal. A team becomes more than just a collection of people when a strong sense of mutual commitment creates synergy, thus generating performance greater than the sum of the performance of its individual members.
