Human society is involved to become more and more sophisticated every day. Along with that fast changing world, social science needs have grown to become a necessity. And social psychology is one of them. More specific than sociology, social psychology is defined as the study of how people react to each other behaviors, thoughts and opinions (Lilienfeld, Lynn, Namy, and Woolf, 2014). The reason that this social science field is vital is because we will have knowledge of how to improve or affect other people’s behaviors, whether it is good or bad to do something, or say certain things to certain types of people. Deindividuation can be described as a set of behaviors a person express when they suddenly lose all of their normal identities. A prime example of common use of deindividuation is soldiers in military. United States Army is known as one of the proudest army in the world not because they are combat effective, but displaying great teamwork. According to Morris, every soldier who is enlisted in United States Army will go through a process of deindividuation (1996). Because after that training time, they will think less of themselves and contribute more to team’s goal, which is a key of success in combat settings. Everybody will have new identity, have the same goal, and share same thoughts. Since trainers in boot camp usually do not consider highly where people came from, or what culture background they had, some people do not coop easily with those changes. Some studies have stated that soldiers who cannot fit in military settings tend to develop mental disorders, and the reason is closely related to deindividuation. Although the correlation is vague and data is not enough to convince everybody, deindividuation is still a risky method because not everybody can adapt quickly to changes, especially with identity issue and stressful
