Many years ago we lived in a time where technology did not run our everyday lives. This could be said for even 20 years ago. In the 1800’s that was definetly the case. Family life was more about the family and less about distractions. Everything was simpler, there was not mulimedia that needed to be tended to, families had several children, and pets were a common household friend. Both paintings show families sitting together in a common area of their homes. The time in which the paintings were done was during years where daily lives were lived simpler than they are today. The paintings also show very little home decoration which could perhaps imply how important or not important materials were in this era. Everyday tasks, chores, everything was on a different level, simpler. There were still things that were hard but in comparison life was a lot more simpler than it is now. Families had mulitple children because they were not worried about wheteher or not they could. All family members participated in the house and everyday living. Lastly, pets go way back before we can even know. They bring something special to our llives and its important that we treat them with just as much rescpect. That is why in both portraits you see the families furry friend. Not only is the dog having a blast but the children in each painting who are playing with them, are also happy. Life is exotemely complicated these days with the advanced technology, fancy phones, social media, and of couse negative outside influence. We could all use one from the books and go back to a time when playing outside was the “cool” thing to do and nobody was standing around judging our every move or living out our lives for us. They had something good going a long time ago, and its that feeling that we need to bring back. Fmaily is all that we have, lets treasure
