The Expectance of the Three Important Men

In his 6th year of service, Barack Obama, the 44th president of the United States of America, has been following the footprints of Abraham Lincoln, the 16th president of the United States of America. It is obvious that Obama has been influenced from Lincoln as a president. In addition to this, they have a lot in common. Their first step was to gain the trust of their citizens and after that; they targeted unity under the name of all for one and one for all. Their target was not only unity but also the equality between every individual. Obama’s speech – ‘Inaugural Address’ is a great evidence of how he follows Abraham Lincoln’s footsteps. It also can be seen from Lincoln’s ‘First Inaugural Address’, ‘Second Inaugural Address’ and ‘The Gettysburg Address’. Although, there are differences between the eras that two presidents have lived, such as Cold War, racism and slavery, the important issue is that, they both struggle for the same problems. Both of them think first about their citizens and nations and yet, can be easily considered as heroes for their citizens. These thoughts can be strengthened with Sarah Song’s text called ‘What Does It Means To Be An American?’ Apart from the presidents, the great thinker of America, Ralph Waldo Emerson’s ‘Self Reliance’ is another masterpiece of whom Obama followed, due to the advices that given in Self Reliance. One must not forget that, apart from being the trusted, the citizens also wanted to trust and believe themselves as well. It can be understand especially from Emerson’s text.

Born on 12 February 1809 in Kentucky, Abraham Lincoln was the 16th president of the United States of America at the year of 1860. Abraham Lincoln was an absolute hero and a dedicated president to the republicans....

We are shaped by every language and culture, drawn from every end of this earth.’ As a result of his thoughts, Obama states that, people must be respectful to those whom are ‘different’, in order to maintain the peace. Moreover, an American author, Sarah Song, also states that in her text; ‘What does it means to be an American’; One must be able to share one culture, which is national, defined in racial, ethnic and religious terms. According to her, ‘Being an American means sharing a commitment to set of values and ideals’.
In addition to her statement, Obama and Lincoln, as well, thought and stated multiple times that, how America has been willing to accept anyone, with the respect of one’s whose from different nations.
