The world as we once knew it is changing. Some may debate on whether this progress is for the better or worse. The evolution of communication has taken flight and social media is the first passenger boarding its plane. With the development of social media networks such as Facebook and others, staying connected to the outside world from your home, office or car is more accessible now than ever. These methods of communication have simply become “the norm” and is widely accepted around the nation. We as people, whether openly admitting or not, fail to realize that in order to stay relevant in some field or aspect the only resort is to grow with the times of communication. Why? The world has begun to center their lives around social connections. These social platforms have become our entertainment, life counselors and showcases for our futures. Sadly, the past has become just that… the past. With such social powerhouses on the steady rise, lives of others will no longer be mysteries. Access to school information, events, company gatherings or family trips will always provide some sort of insight to the public eye.
“On whatever scale you care to judge Facebook-as a company, as a culture, as a country, it is vast beyond imagination.”(Marche, 2012). Originally when Facebook was created, it was ideally made for Harvard Law college students in the early 2000s, but as its popularity began to spread, it was made accessible to other college students around the world and now to anyone who is of age to join. Facebook was literally an overnight success in my opinion, because it now provided communication with others millions of miles away. ... and create memories in doing so. Some have broadened their talents and have released creativity that they never knew was inside of them. Platforms like Facebook have molded the brand of social networking by creating environments for friendships to grow and inspiration to spread. With sites like these, the idea of 10 year high school reunions will soon become nonexistent. Why? These social media outlets allow you to grow with the people you’ve known all your life, live through their previous moments and capture the heartbreaking ones as well. There is no mystery to one’s life anymore because many have become so open that it’s out there for the world to see. This is only the beginning for social media sites, because just like Facebook paved the way for Twitter and Instagram, there will always be newer innovations waiting in the wing to capture the world’s attention.
