The Beatles, along with other bands from the United Kingdom, would make great contributions to pop culture and change the world as people knew back then into the world we know today. During the years preceding the formation of The Beatles, (1950s) Britain was in a state of recovery from the horrors of World War II. In the month of October (1957) in Liverpool, England, high school students John Lennon, Paul McCartney, George Harrison, Pete Best and Stu Sutcliffe started The Blackjacks. “In March 1957, after getting his first guitar, John formed a group which, for the first week, involved only himself and Pete Shotton. They called themselves the Black Jacks for less than a week, before changing their name to The Quarry Men, as they both attended the Quarry Bank High School for Boys… Paul McCartney joined in 1957, and George Harrison joined 1958, and they remained The Quarry Men until the very end of 1959, when they briefly appeared as Johnny and the Moondogs… John, however, hated it, and in 1960 they changed their name five times before settling on The Beatles.
At a performance roughly a year after their beginning (1957) John had met Paul McCartney at one of their performances and Paul had impressed them with his skill on the guitar later asking Paul to join the band. In 1958 George Harrison wanted the join the quarrymen he had a good audition but John though of George as too young at the age of fourteen, but almost a year later when he turned fifteen Paul had set up a meeting for George and convinced John to let George to join the band as the lead guitarist. .Then in 1960 the band decided they needed a new name, they had gone with the name “The Silver Beatles” which later was just changed to “The Beatles”. In 1962 the last Beatle to join the group was Ringo Starr, Ringo’s story isn’t much the only reason he joined the Beatles over his old band was they offered him twenty-five GBP over his old bands 20 GBP per week check. To give their band a name the newly formed band went to Hamburg Germany to perform at various clubs, they would continue to come to Hamburg five times over the next two years.

They became the most influential act of the rock era. To be called the most influential act of the rock era to me, it would have me crying and feeling accomplished. That I could influence people just because of something I love to do is amazing.

When people think about the 60’s the majority of them all think about the Beatles. The Beatles is a band that made Rock and Roll a totally, different type of music. Even though The Beatles were such a hit, as time went on they started to fall apart. Over 50 years later, the Beatles are still classified as one of the best band of all time. Before the Beatles were the Beatles, they were just normal musicians.
This made Jimi a star in Britain and later on America. But tragically had a short career of a non-expecting death only a few years later in 1970. He had just installed a new CD player and popped in a CD by the Jimi Hendrix Experience, he flipped a couple switches and out came Voodoo Child blasting thru his speakers. The sound was soothing and although I couldn’t comprehend what the song was about I fell in love with it. It was my first time listening to that kind of music, and it opened me up to all the greats of that time and became what my music choice of today is. Along with the Beatles, The Rolling Stones are one of the most famous English rock bands to influence America. Introducing teenagers to African American urban blues, and transforming the urban blues into something like high-energized rock and roll are just some of the things the Stones brought to America (Kallen 10-11). The original line-up of the band included; Bill Wyman, Charlie Watts, Brian Jones, Mick Jagger, and Ian Stewart (Kallen 8-9). They have come a long way to get where they are now, and to this day they are still playing their music around the world. The Rolling Stones are an English rock band, they have been around since the early 1960’s.
By the time this musically inclined boy turned ten he could already play the harmonica, piano, and taught himself how to play the guitar. In his first year of high school, he formed a group, the Golden Chords. Dylan then went to the University of Minnesota for arts only to stay there for three semesters. After playing at various coffeehouses he realized school was not for him so he moved to New York, when he turned twenty years old and had hopes of meeting his idol, Woody Guthrie, who he visited many times at the hospital.
