General Mills Cereal company had stopped using GMO’s in Cheerios mainly because of public pressure. Cheerios was thought from the buyers to be a family food. Respectively, Cheerios got rid of GMO’s and in that 20 seconds walking down the cereal aisle my topic was found. This move by Cheerios was golde n.Moms will start bringing Cheerios into the house over any other kind of cereal if they know its healthy for their children. Cheerios just boomed there marketing and people are going to realize it very soon. This paper discusses whether GMO’s are harmful or helpful to humans. It will first talk about what sort of things are in GMO’s and the effects some of these GMO’s have. It will next uncover why people should have the right to know what they are eating. GMO’s should be labeled. It will conclude with making people more aware of these GMO’S and how a person could go about getting them labeled. Barely more than a third of people think GMO’s are safe to eat. According to TNS Intersearch of Horsham, PA “52% think that genetically modified foods are unsafe to eat, and an additional 13% are unsure about them” (Langer, June 17). That says more than half of americans think genetically modified foods are unsafe. TNS Intersearch of Horsham, PA also stated “93% of americans think that the federal government should require labeling on food stating whether it is genetically modified or “bio-engineered” (Langer, June 17). That’s one amazingly high number for no changes. Eventually the government will have to require labeling if the people want to know what's in their food.
