Alright let’s, just face the facts, our world as we know it is being engulfed by technology and there is nothing we can do to stop it. Video games are becoming a part of everyday life for people of all ages around the world. Almost everyone with a smartphone has an app that is a game, well guess what that is a videogame. There are a lot of benefits to playing video games in areas such as the medical/health fields, learning skills that will help educational goals, and even social benefits.

An online gamer myself normally do play with people, mostly friends of mine that I grew up with or have worked with over the years that I can no longer see on a regular basis, so video games is how we stay connected. Playing games that are designed to have players cooperate and support each other have shown to players acquiring prosocial skills (Granic. Lobel. Engels. 2014). Being able to apply those attributes in video games does make for an easier transition to being able to do it in everyday life. Failure is a big part of life and playing video games are a good way to learn how to cope and become resilient in the face of everyday failures in life (Bowen, 2014). I have learned that skill and resilience partially from video games myself, because you get beat a lot in all types of games and you have to learn to deal with those failures. Being happy is a great part of life and dealing with stress is a part of being happy, games that are easily accessible like games on your phone have been proven to improve moods and decrease stress (Bowen, 2014).
