Propaganda has infected the mass media throughout history, causing conflict or desire among a targeted audience. Propaganda is basic information that is twisted to be biased or misleading to promote or publicize a point of view. Therefore, the general audience must overcome such tactics of blissful ignorance. To defend against such brainwashing, it is ideal to be aware of the general perspective, sensitive to situational demands, and challenge or disobey inaccurate information without physical evidence of proof.

Throughout time the audience has heard and seen events unfold that caused riot, because the story may have been one sided or not. Recently, during the 2017 presidential campaign between Hillary and Trump, a made-up story spread through the social media causing an uproar and Hillary’s votes decline. The popular family restaurant “Comet Ping Pong,” that was involved in the make-up story by Fake news was swept up in the onslaught of conspiracy theories and death threats, until a gunner known as Edgar Maddison used a gun inside the restraint. James Alefantis, the owner of the Pizzeria stated how promoting “false and reckless” conspiracy theories come with consequences.
