Having access to nutritional and sustainable food on a regular basis is defined as food security. Many developed countries have food security, such as Australia, America and the UK. Yet many less-developed countries struggle with food security for several reasons. There are diverse reasons for this, however, with one of them being land grabs. According to Food4Thought, Cambodia has experienced 133 land grabs as of April, 2014. Coupled with the inability to recover after the Pol Pot’s Khmer Rouge in the late 1970’s and decades of war and internal conflict, Cambodia’s history and humanity’s greed keep this country from obtaining food security. Along with these circumstances, Cambodia has no government welfare benefits, and the food is generally highly expensive for the typical Cambodian to afford. As agriculture is the traditional ‘mainstay’ of Cambodia, it is foreseen to increase its crop production within the coming years. With Cambodia’s ideal biome, they have endless opportunities to develop their agricultural production. As Cambodia is located in the Tropical Semi-arid biome, they are under risk of floods and natural disasters, which often causes farmers to move and kill their livestock.
