Sexual Activity Increased sexual activity with others is a large part of development in early adulthood. Whether sexual activity is heterosexual and homosexual, there are many of the same effects and concerns. Most individuals have experienced sexual intercourse by this point in their lives and there are emerging trends of being unmarried and sexually active. This results in risks to physical health such as sexually transmitted infections as adults are sexually active with peers but can have other effects depending on the state of the individual. I can notice how it has made me more cautious around unfamiliar situations and people and definitely find myself more anxious and scared around others at situations like parties. However, it has also made me attempt to advocate more for others when it comes to rape prevention during the red zone which is defined “as a period of time early in the first year of college when women are at especially high risk for unwanted sexual experiences” (Santrock, 2015, p.417). A recent study determined that “men and women took six common pathways in exiting divorce” (Santrock, 2015, p.451). There are enhancers who improve emotionally after a divorce from their peer where they can handle stress and problems better. The good-enoughs are considered average and develop both positively and negatively. They often marry partners similar to their first partner but changed their social lives. Seekers are very common where they attempt to find a new partner as soon as possible which may have various consequences. Libertines engage in more casual sex and single bars, but often found this eventually dissatisfying. A small group called competent loners became well adjusted with successful endeavours and social skills. Finally, the defeated often had problems before the divorce that only increased after the divorce.
