Imagine that you just got back from a run and are drinking a cool bottle of water. A couple of days later, you find out you have ecoli! How did this happen? You drank bottled water. Bottled water is bad for you and the environment. Bottled water causes major environmental problems. Also, it isn’t always better than tap water. Finally, the bottles themselves are wasteful. Bottled water causes major environmental problems. First of all, less than 20% of the bottles are recycled. They usually just end up in the garbage and landfills, where it takes a very long time to biodegrade. They also end up in waterways, where they get broken down and ingested by birds and sea life. Also, transporting bottled water to markets produces air pollution and emissions of carbon dioxide which contributes to global warming.
