Technology is not a new idea but is always changing. The modern world revolves around technology, and it has touched almost every aspect of human life. Technology is used in almost every field of work, in homes all over the world, and for social communication (Gebski paragraph 1). Many people would argue that technology has advanced our world tremendously; and to a point, that is true. In other words, technology has reduced social interaction of people on a daily basis. Most ancient cultures’ social lives were based around community events with everyone gathering together. A variety of topics such as business, politics, and conflicts or disagreements would be discussed in person, out in the open. Technology has changed this aspect of culture
Cellphones, television, and computers are just three of the most popular ways that we communicate in today. They have made a substantial impact on the United States simply by being readily available and easy to use. People are often discussing how technology has impacted us. Many believe that technology is actually hindering society rather than helping it. Then there are those who doubt technology has made our social interactions better. Certainly, this is true; without the advances in technology, our level of social interaction in education, businesses, and relationships would diminish.

The side effects of the internet or technology are countless however here are 5 ways that technology can affect our daily lives. Due to the over-exposure that children have had to the internet, games or texting, kids have gotten used to having whatever they want instantaneously at their fingertips in a mere matter of milliseconds (Martin). Kids have gotten used to having whatever they want as soon as they ask for it, and that has led to deteriorated patience and an elevated exasperation because then they have to wait. “The excessive usage of online chatting and shortcuts has led today’s young generation’s writing skills decline tremendously” (Martin). Because of the amount of online chatting and shortcuts that are being used now days children are counting more and more on digital communication and they don’t know how to spell different words, how to use grammar properly or how to do cursive writing. “Another interesting study last year found that when people used cell phones they were less likely to be good to others, or to display “pro-social behavior,” ...
How much can technology impact your social life? Who would of thought that technology would affect life in such a major way? Little did people know that technology can impact the way humans interact with each other. While listening to music and playing games on their mobile devices, how many people actually get to know one another while standing right next to each other? A small ride on a metro or bus ride will show you just how little interaction goes on in a humans life do to the amount of use on their mobile devices. The role technology plays in socializing has a great impact on people’s interaction. People can be standing right next to each other with out saying one word to one another. While waiting for the next class to start or even during the class, people tune out the rest of the world and this can lead up to social isolation. Technology has had a bad impact on the way humans socialize because it causes people to be less interactive. Social isolation is a health condition that can become very severe and lead up to depression, anxiety, despair and many other things. Social isolation can be avoided if technology is limited to use at only appropriate times as when bored, alone or incase of an emergency you would use cell phones.
Days, months, and years go by and we do not notice them. Living in such a busy world, we are not always aware of the changes in our lives. Twenty years ago, if someone was told we would be able to buy groceries, pay our bills, buy stocks or even a car through the use of a computer, we might have laughed and blamed too much science fiction television for such wild accusations. However, as the next generation of children grows up, they may find it funny that people still send letters to each other through the post office. The development of the Internet has given us the ability to communicate and exchange information instantly across vast distances. The Internet has caused a huge impact in the communication field, and has made our way of living and working a lot easier, faster, and cheaper than before.

Only once in a lifetime will a new invention come about to touch every aspect of our lives. Such a device that changes the way we work, live, and play is a special one, indeed. From classroom activities to space flight and everything in between, computers are a vital part of daily life. Everything we do and every aspect of our life is affected by modern technology like the computers. Computers let us dissect any sort of data. Computers makes us reflect, hence we develop. Because of computers and the Internet, we can talk with individuals from diverse nations, and even see them via webcam. Computers have their weaknesses like they have a negative effect on individuals' health. One of the risky parts of any machine is the screen. Computers make individuals dependent. Computers are hampering individuals' improvement in regular life. We don't read printed books any longer, since we can listen and read on the web. Overuse of machines has numerous negative impacts, for example, creating physical/behavioral sicknesses, harming family connections and diminishing scholarly study.
The effect can been seen on the society as people now hide behind screens and tend to have limited face to face commutation. It’s also ironic that many relationships were built through online chatting and later were disappeared without people meeting one another in reality. Perhaps, one of the most downsides of Social media is the weakening of the bond between family members. In other words, the overuse of technology such as laptops and smartphones have negatively affected healthy relationships and led to isolation, depression and psychological conditions due to the lack of support between family members. Education wise, social media is believed to be one of the reasons behind the drop in educational level and standard among teenagers and children. The great amount of time they spend on social medial is likely to affect their intelligence as the brain become lazier in memory and information processing.
