The real world can seem like a daunting place to the average high school student, especially when the pressures of high school seem difficult to handle. Sometimes, everything gets to be too much, and the student decides to start life a little early, cut education short, and drop out.
something on the end of a pencil. That was the night that I started to figure and configure, contemplate, and computate just how I might leave my delible mark on this life” (Inquisitors and Insurgents). The pencil has been a life giving force, a fountain of life, a symbol of readiness and ability to write. Her professor and mentor Dr. Gloria Wade Gayles encouraged her to show her poems to Nikki Giovanni who corrected them with a red pen but assured Finney that something good was about to happen. She spent two years attending Toni Cade Bambara workshop with a pencil and paper. She stresses the metaphor of sharpened thought “The more I pencil-dig down,
The high school diploma a ticket to bring my own agendas and dreams into fruition in the preceding months entering college. This autobiography is a poignant journey of how I made it to college. I set an example for the young people today. If taken can be an inspiration to change many lives. It shows some of my central mysteries of education, diligent work, and belief. I hope I can make going to college important in writing a sideline story of my come up. Nothing is impossible as long as one does not quit visualizing who he or she wants to be. Be bold to write the future and just do it to make it to
A “Flash Master” (Qbukowicz, 2009, p. 16) is similar to flash cards and is used as a game. Just like flash cards, this assistive technology is used to help students memorize different math equations. This device reinforces math concepts for those who struggle with math. This form of assistive technology portrays a math equation, and the student discovers the answer. This piece of technology allows the student to take the device whereever the student goes. The student can even take it home and gain extra practice of math equations. This device exposes the student to a great deal of math equations that can improve their math skills.
I’ve come to learn that is really crucial to have a notepad and writing utensil with me at all times. Sometimes I’m asked to do multiple tasks at a time and by writing them down I know I won’t forget information. Also, during my daily meetings, there are crucial dates and other important information that must be written down.

I am grateful for all my hard work and effort and I have earned my grades during my high school career. Getting good grades had its ups and downs but I could have never made it without the encouragement and motivation from my parents. I learn fast and thought others the work. I have struggled at times to comprehend some lessons and I have spent hours to prepare myself for the test. As to my grade point average it has never been lower than a 3.9. Throughout the 4 years attending high school I have learned so much, whether its learning the derivative of an equation or how to lead a group of teenagers to run a successful virtual business in Virtual Enterprise. I have grown so much in maturity and personality every year and I can’t
I didn’t have “sense enough” to be disappointed by quitting school and joining the workforce. I was that someone who once sold their books for beer money before the quarter was over. With each year that has passed the dark cloud of this failure has grown. While making the decision to return to school I found myself starting to ask some tough questions of self-doubt. Am I smart enough to earn a college degree? How embarrassing will it be if I fail as an adult? I finally put all of this nonsense out of my mind. Being the person I am today, and knowing all that I have accomplished thus far, is proof to me that I will achieve my goal of an undergraduate
The traditional paper airplanes and spit wads are still around, but they seem less popular than in days gone by-probably because it is easier for a student to move freely about the classroom today than it used to be. In any case, there can be no doubt that paper is just as important as ever to the student whose days would be a waste without it.
Forty minutes left in this boring classroom. The teacher at the front of the room babbles consistently about everything that revokes my interest. I cannot sit still in this uncomfortable plastic seat. I understand why students loathe the thought of going to school. However, simple boredom minutely compares to dropping out of school. According to the book Dropping Out : Why Students Drop Out of High School and What Can Be Done About It, “Public high schools in the United States reported that 607,789 students dropped out in 2008– 09” (Rumberger 1). Common consequences for those students consist of detriments such as decreased pay, low availability of applicable jobs, and low self-esteem. I know of only rare cases where high school drop outs emerge prosperous in the modern economic world. Graduation of high school is crucial to increase chances of success. The student’s background, school performance, and personal choices can cause him to consider or even go through with dropping out of school.

You’re out of high school finally, what’s next? The most common answer would be “college”, but why are you saying that? Are you saying it to please your parents, or you just want to get away from your hometown for a while. Then they are people that don’t go to college and think that having just a high school diploma is ok and working at McDonalds they whole life is good. Some people think education is important because they can make money and have a better job than someone with a high school degree. I don’t think like that. My reasons why I thought that education was important was because I want to broaden my mind, become more than a stereotype, and have a better chance of being successful.
