We have all been through border patrol inspections and searches, yet how much of it is legal? What is too much? When are border patrol agents abusing their power? What are they legally allowed to do? When does their jurisdiction start and when does it end? These might be lots of questions you may have thought about before yet never actually did the research to answer your questions. I will be conducting the research to answer these questions and more that you might have about what border patrol agents are and what is in their actual job description. In order to start answering the do’s and don’ts for U.S.border patrol agents first, let’s learn some history about them. U.S. border patrol which can be traced way back to 1904 securing from El Paso Texas to western Californian borders. There were originally 75 mounted watchmen taking care of the border to keep illegal Chinese immigrants away. In 1915 congress approved a separate group of Mounted guards which were called Mounted inspectors, they had border arrest authority but their main focus was capturing illegal Chinese immigrants.
