Murder is defined by Merriam-Webster Dictionary as “the crime of unlawfully killing a person especially with malice aforethought.” Homicide is a terrifying and troublesome topic to discuss among people, but it is a harsh reality of living in the real world. Many notorious murderers have been introduced within the past few decades, but some of the most notorious murderers in the United States have been John Wayne Gacy and Jeffrey Dahmer. While John Gacy and Jeffrey Dahmer have very diverse backgrounds and killing techniques from each other, they are still both cold-blooded murderers. For starters, both of the men were surrounded by dark family issues such as divorce or abuse. In addition to that, bullying and consistent isolation at school seemed to have an affect on how these men viewed life. John and Jeffrey had no real chance for happiness due to the constant pressure of family secrets and school troubles. These similarities deem to be important when it comes to perceiving these men as future killers. Tracy was forced into Dahmer’s bedroom with a butcher knife, but he eventually escaped and flagged down police who would arrest Jeffrey. Upon arrival, the police found Polaroid pictures of Jeffrey’s victims as well as skulls and a human heart in his freezer, resulting in his arrest (Jeffrey- Crime Museum). Jeffrey Dahmer was tried in January of 1992, when he was convicted of seventeen murders of different young men. He was sentenced to fifteen life terms, for a total of nine hundred and fifty-seven years in prison. Jeffrey was later attacked and slaughtered by another inmate in November 1994
