Many U.S. Citizens have given their lives unselfishly in wars America has had. World War 2 started in 1939, however, the U.S didn't join until 1941. As the war ended in 1945 there were more than 416,800 American military that had courageously lost their lives, but why did this make the start of the war to begin with? On September 1st, 1939 Germany invaded Poland and other nations that were a part of the British Empire. Going deeper into the reasoning, back to the end of World War 1, Germany was forced to sign the Treaty of Versailles, which many Germans strongly wanted to rescind from. This was one of the treaties signed on June 28th 1918, this ended the actual fighting of the war; however, it took six months to conclude officially. This caused the country of Germany to lose 14%, banned them from annexing other states, limited the size of German forces, and forced them to pay monumental sizes in compensation. Not mentioned enough for some are the soldiers that went over and above their duties as soldiers. These soldiers have done what we call an "Act of Valor,” which deserves an awa...
World War one saw many great airmen, but there were two that stood out among the rest; Captain Edward Rickenbacker and 2nd Lieutenant Frank Luke, Jr. These men both demonstrated courage and bravery that ultimately asked them for their life. Both men received the Congressional Medal of Honor for their deeds of bravery, as well as earning the title of Ace. An Ace is someone that has shot down at least five enemy planes. Rickenbacker was nicknamed “Ace of the Aces”, while Luke was the first of only two men to receive the Congressional Medal of Honor. Luke honored his country through his actions. Frank Luke Jr demonstrated superior characteristics that lead him to make a valuable contribution to World War I through bravery, skilled flying skills, and selflessness.
Audie Leon Murphy has earned all available U.S. military combat award for valor possible from the United States Army. He was also decorated by Belgium and France for his service. He serviced in the European Theater of Operations along with the Mediterranean. on January 26, 1945 Murphy earned the medal of honor because of what he had did at the Colmar Pocket near Holtzwihr, France when he was only 19 years old. He received it for his defensive actions against German troops- this shows his selfless service and personal courage. While he was wounded he alone stayed in a burning tank destroyer firing at the Germans- their soldiers and tanks- with a fully automatic machine gun. When he was out of ammo he climbed off the tank and led a successful counterattack after he had refused to let his wounds be treated. Another way he showed his personal courage-an army value.
Autonomy and Responsibility: Why the United States Entered World War II World War II was an exceptional war for the United States. The United States emerged from the war as a world superpower and protector of all other nations. There were many reasons why the United States entered World War II, however President Franklin Roosevelt was in some way directly connected to every reason. Roosevelt wanted to enter World War II as soon as it started for political and economic needs. However, the American people did not want to enter in another war, such as World War I, that costs so many lives and money.
World War II started because of Hitler’s persuasive words that compelled the German people to follow him into anything. Hitler brought the brainwashed Germans into war against the world that should have never been fought because it made it seem like Germans were always doing the right thing. In Hitlers book Mein Kampf, Hitler writes, "All great movements are popular movements. They are the volcanic eruptions of human passions and emotions, stirred into activity by the ruthless Goddess of Distress or by the torch of the spoken word cast into the midst of the people" (Hitler). The world was given a piece of literature that was a piece of propaganda that benefited the Germans in many ways. They were given a scapegoat and something to believe in
World War Two began on the 3rd of September 1939 when Germany invaded Poland, however Adolf Hitler had made a number of actions before this date that are directly responsible for the outbreak of what is bloodiest war in human history. Although there were a number of causes of World War Two, Hitler’s actions were the most important. Hitler’s actions can be broken down into three different points. Firstly, Hitler’s military actions such as the rearmament of Germany and the German assistance in the Spanish Civil War were major causes of the war. Secondly, Hitler’s breaking of The Munich Agreement and finally, Hitler’s invasion of Poland, which many historians believe to be the main trigger for The Second World War. Many of Hitler’s actions can be traced back to being a direct cause of World War Two.

World War II was not only started by Adolf Hitler and Germany, but had a lot to do with the humiliation that Germany felt when the terms of the Treaty of Versailles were laid down. The harsh terms of the Treaty of Versailles may be indirectly related to the cause of World War II, but nonetheless was a huge factor in starting the war.

World War II killed more people, destroyed more property, disrupted more lives, and probably had more far-reaching consequences than any other war in history. It brought about the downfall of Western Europe as the center of world power and led to the rise of the Soviet Union. The exact number of people killed because of the war will never be known. Many nations came together to form the Axis. As they’re opposite the Allies totaled fifty nations by the end of the war. The early stages of the war are what got the attention of the U.S. Although, the U.S. was set on being on the sidelines of this war, Pearl Harbor was the deciding factor for her entry. The consequences of the war involved numerous deaths and even more power struggles after the war had ended. All together, World War II was a far-reaching, extremely destructive war that changed the world and its super-powers forever.
General Douglas MacArthur uses pathos in his speech. To give gratitude to the soldiers have been fighting beside him and to those who has devoted their life on the battlefield, he told the audience how some of his brothers died uncomplaining with honor and glory in their hearts. Such words have the ability to arise American's appreciation along with sympathy. How some people will devote their life for the love of their country is, indeed, something that is truly affecting.
The road to World War II was built by several different causes. Under Adolf Hitler and the Nazis, Germany had desire to expand and dominate over most of Europe. This expansionism could be seen in Germany’s allies too. Japan set its eyes on China, and Italy set its eyes on Northern Africa. Hitler also ignored many of the agreements under the Treaty of Versailles, and begun breaking the treaty more and more up until the start of World War II. Unfortunately he couldn’t be stopped, a policy of “Appeasement” from the League of Nations allowed Germany to build an army and begin the annexation of its European neighbors. This policy of appeasement was accompany by the belief that collective security would pull through. If all the nations banded together and declared collective security, no other country would dare attack. Unfortunately when Germany and her allies did attack, collective security proved useless. Ultimately the policies of appeasement, the belief that collective security would work, and the over aggression of the Axis forces would lead to the start of World War II.
