Rob Grom’s Photograph image for David Kirby’s book jacket, Death at SeaWorld, aims to persuade the reader through pathos, logos, and ethos to read the book. Upon viewing the book jacket, a person is drawn into the emotion of the graphic, the dark contrasting colors of the photo and the text. The potential book reader is also inspired to look at the logic of the title and the subtitle. Lastly, the reader is also going to notice an author with a reliable reputation. The photographer does an excellent job to represent David Kirby’s contribution to the issues involved for whales in captivity.
