The Dark Face
In modern world and with all the developed technology, we are still looking for our identity. Many people lost not just their identity but also their humanity. They became slaves for their desires and look to the world as a forest. The fourth economic power in the world and one of the most developed modern countries has another dark side. Poverty, socioeconomic discrimination, and savagery are the common features of this modern society. It is a sad story of a young student girl that awakened a whole nation. This girl was raped and savagely murdered in a bus by six people in front of her boyfriend. This incident is one of many rape incidents that take place every twenty minutes, but it ignited a revolution that called for social, constitutional and legislative reforms.

There is no equality between men and women. Men treated women with cruelty. They rape and abuse them under the protection of law. This incident was the turning point in the history of a nation which refuses to accept modernity in the twenty first century. They just want to stick with the ancient culture and ideas and refuse to move forward. One of the rapists justified his act because he refused the idea that a girl can leave her house at night. She has to stay at home when the sun sets. “the unrepentant rapist said 'housekeeping is for girls, not roaming in discos and bars at night '” (SHAMMAS 2015).
The attackers, from the other hand came from poor community. Alcohol, drugs and homosexuality is a common picture of their community. That night they drank heavily and they were unaware of their behaviors. Their savage behavior was a reflection of their poverty and misery. They establish their gang to protect themselves.
