For many reasons, the current American education system needs to be reformed. The curriculum between high schools is uneven and therefore unfair. Curriculums need to be even for all high schoolers so they have the chance to create any kind of life for themselves that they would like. Students have too little time and too much pressure put on them when making choices about post-secondary education. College is too big of a decision to be made hastily, yet that is what most American students are doing. Teachers are woefully undervalued. Many do not have the chance to review the amount of information needed to make an educated decision about post-secondary education. Copious amounts of information exist about post-secondary education, and it is too much for students to review if they are considering multiple colleges or universities. The quality of information can also vary and often times the most reliable information requires payment. This leaves many students looking over scores of information, some of which may even be inaccurate. However, the student has no way of discerning what is right from what is wrong. Very few students have enough experience to adequately choose the career field they want to pursue.
