All three tiers have a role to play, it's not only to provide their product or sell it. They are interested to expand their brand in a global manner to attract more customers. Many may think that this a way for a money hungry CEO to get more money, in some cases it might be. However, it can be used in a positive way. These companies are known for their charitable causes, but in the World Cup, they promote the game to underprivileged children. The goal is to raise to provide the skills needed so that one day; that once under estimated child can achieve their goal, and play in the prestigious tournament. The same strategy can be used to provided funding to eliminate property, and uplift the host nation.
“One Arab nation from Gulf to the Ocean,” gives meaning to the term “Pan-Arabism” in the Middle East. A notion where Arab nations transcend their state boundaries to form political mergers with other states and achieve an ‘Arab unity.’ The existence of Arab states had been tumultuous throughout the decline of the Muslim order, the end of the Ottoman Empire, the Palestinian defeat, Six Day War and Arab-Israeli war in 1973. This essay will critically examine Foud Ajami’s case for a raison d’état in the Middle East and his claim that there were six broad trends leading to the alteration of the balance of power away from Pan-Arabism and towards the state. It will be argued that Pan-Arabism was a romantic ideology that Arab states found convenient to support, all in advancement of their nationalistic state agendas. It was never a realistic endeavor that was physically undertaken by the Arab states and was thus never alive in a tangible sense. However, Pan-Arabism as an ideology had a place in the Middle East and was thus alive in an ideological sense.
Qatar’s culture is progressive neither because it is Western nor because it is fundamentally Islamic but because it manages to use soft diplomacy to lie in the middle of the two, on the front edge of both cultures. Qatar practices soft diplomacy because it allows them the luxury of gaining a variety of allies who would hopefully provide support to them if they were to need it. So, Qatar’s progressive media and culture are based on Qatar’s soft diplomacy that stems from its less fundamental Wahhabism and its efforts to gain

...gations surround the 2022 selection bidding process. Without any doubt it can be concluded that the process was flawed and the FIFA due process of carrying out the exercise was greatly violated. In the football industry, world cup is an important event that gathers people from all parts of the world together. Therefore, there is a dear need to ensure that every decision made regarding the same is has been made for the common good of all and not for a few individuals. The cases of corruption reported and ascertained by the various investigations prove that perhaps Qatar did not win the bid in a transparent manner and thus this bid needs to be revoked. Revocation of this bid will continue to build the credibility of FIFA as a world’s football governing body and perhaps prevent such kind of acts in the future. Additionally, there is enough time to call for a fresh bid.
Soccer was globalized when the FIFA World Cup was established in 1928. Being the single most watched sporting event in the world, the World Cup is a way to bring the world together in a delightful way. According to FIFA’s website, “It fulfills FIFA’s objectives to touch the world, develop the game, and build a better future through a variety of ways.” They also mention, “As of mid-2007, FIFA has grown to include 208 member associations, thus making it one of the biggest and certainly the most popular sports federation in the world” (“FIFA World Cup”). The World Cup has been held every four years since the inaugural tournament in 1930, except in 1942 and 1946 when WWII stopped it from being held (“FIFA World Cup”). Countries compete against each other in these tournaments in a process of elimination until one country comes out on top and is titled champion.

The Olympics is a mega sport event which is presented once every four years and it has become a golden opportunity for hosts to emerge as a strong country. Hosting the Olympics is a big thing for every country and they receive worldwide attention from the preparation period until the actual event. However, hosting the Olympics comes with heavy stakes and experts tend to argue about the appropriateness for the countries to host it. There may be people who oppose with hosting the Olympics, however, the country rebranding, the economy hike and also the pride and patriotism of citizens just demonstrate the need of hosting the Olympics for the development of the country.
Since it began in 1930, the FIFA World Cup has been the largest single event sports competition in the world. Every four years FIFA, the Fédération International de Football Association, calls upon thirty-two of the world’s greatest soccer teams to compete in the stadiums of the host country. In addition to having one of the top competing teams, Brazil will also be hosting the 2014 FIFA World Cup. The 31 day tournament begins in Sao Paulo on June 12th and ends with the championship match in Rio de Janeiro on July 13th. In recent months Brazil has been busy preparing to host the tournament in twelve brand new stadiums around the nation. The World Cup will cost Brazil an estimated fourteen billion dollars, an amount that continues to increase as plans for the tournament become more elaborate. The amount of money the country will be spending on the tournament angers many of the nation’s citizens. Protests have become a daily occurrence in Brazil as citizens rally against the construction of stadiums and the arrangement of the expensive tournament. It has been argued that hosting the World Cup will benefit Brazil’s businesses and economy; however, the upper class will profit from the publicity of the games, not the thirty-five percent of the population living under the poverty level. The 2014 FIFA World Cup should not take place in Brazil due to the need for improvements in law enforcement, education, and the threat of extreme poverty.
During the world cup mass protests took place to expose how the country invested so much in preparing for the World Cup while so many residents were living in poverty (Human Rights Watch, 2014). This issue has the potential to become volatile as the country is currently experience an economic slowdown and the unemployment numbers begin to rise. Another result of extreme poverty is the lack of skilled workforce which makes it difficult for companies staff their business with local residents which keeps them from investing in the community (Deloitte,
In every major sports event, like the FIFA World Cup or the Olympics, there’s always a huge celebration and a positive vibes surrounding such events. Hosting these events are usually a great honor to the selected countries and bring a lot of favorable consequences with it. However, no one realized that whenever these big sporting events occur and are hosted, brings as much negative consequences which counterbalances all the good things that comes with it. So, the question remains, is the Olympics a Cash Cow or a Money Pit to the hosting countries? In my opinion, the Olympics could actually bring more benefit that loss to the selected countries to host it, which are to bring positive economic and cultural benefits, either a Legacy or a Money pit for the hosting countries, hosting this event could promote development for the educational legacy and finally eradicating poverty throughout the citizens.
Every two years the Olympic Games take place on the world’s stage. People are mesmerized as they cheer on their home team. Whether it be the summer or winter games, for two weeks, biannually, people are inundated with the games. But, many may fail to realize the competition and game behind the Games. This is the never ceasing game of the bidding process and subsequent creation and construction of new Olympic venues as newly selected host cities prepare for their opportunity to host the Olympics. But this little known game has only a few select winners, and their prize is not a medal, rather it is huge financial gains. The losers are many, and they are the most vulnerable inhabitants of the city, the poor; they are not simply losing out on a medal, they are losing their homes.
The public most concerned about who is the next host city every four years. Actually, who have the power to make the decision? The IOC Executive Board will first determine the procedure, and then will pass to the Session and hold the election. In general, the election wil...
