Crime has diverse effects on society in various ways, shapes or form. These criminal effects are impacted either on an individual basis or a continual basis in our everyday lives. These effects or outcomes, if you will, are prevalent on our streets we live on, the neighborhoods we are in, and even the states that we live in. The end result of crimes in our society has many different physical, financial, and emotional impacts. Among those influenced are the public, the victim, and the Police/Law Enforcement.

Crime and criminal activity in general are viewed in many different ways. The opinion and outlook of crime differs in the view of the public, the victim, and for law enforcement. Overall, the public opposes crime all together. Criminal activity somewhat deters the public from moving into a certain area, or they might avoid going to a social event like a baseball game because it is in a bad area of the town. The cost to control or to prevent crime in that particular area will cost extra. Homeowners and business owners will feel the need to protect their assets and property by installing bars on their windows, adding security systems, and possibly even hiring a private security company to watch the property. The public views crime in an area to be a nuisance and costly to them. Crime in the viewpoint of law enforcement is felt as well. If crime in an area is increasing, ...

...them, why should they bother to do anything about it? This is the exact mindset that is allowing the criminal to prevail and society to crumble. If we all took extra accountability in where we live and to help out our fellow neighbor, then maybe crime will decrease. We all can benefit by having a better place to live and enjoy the lower cost of living because the crime is out of our neighborhoods. Crime inadvertently affects us all. The sooner we realize the overall impact that crime has over us, the sooner we will be able to live a peaceful, worry free life. The choices that we will make now will not only affect us today, but will affect us tomorrow as well. Society is not supposed to be one sided. Society is supposed to be a blended culture where we all share the same interests in mind: To ensure that we all have a safe and friendly place to raise our families.
