Success is defined differently amongst everyone due to people having different interpretations of what it means to be successful. In general, success means the accomplishment of a purposeful goal. However, this goal can be anything to anyone, hence the difficulty of one true definition of success. My personal definition of success includes the meaning that an individual is pleased with their career, their lifestyle, and their contribution to society. Not necessarily meaning an individual is required to have wealth and money to be successful, but instead, they should be comfortable, satisfied, and grateful for their lifestyle. According to Ms. C, she has the best lifestyle with a wonderful home and family. She stated that her home is not the most magnificent or ostentatious place, but it is, in fact, the warmest and loveliest place for her family. Henceforth, she has truly accomplished the well-favored goal of creating a home with love. This in itself is a significant accomplishment as many people strive for a well-loved home with their family. For this reason, I soon came to the conclusion that Ms. C is completely content with where she is in her life. In our interview, Ms. C did not specify income or living expenses, yet she talked as if she was the wealthiest person ever. If I did not already know Ms. C was a teacher, I would have thought she was a millionaire. I envied the way she presented herself, fully knowing she is a high school math teacher with a limited salary. Even Ms. C stated that she felt as if she was a millionaire since she was financially stable and her family was doing well. The fact that she was this content on a teacher salary was quite surprising, yet uplifting to hear. They must take pride and pleasure in their career, be completely at ease and comfortable with their lifestyle, and should illustrate some sense of compassion for contributing back to society. Due to all these characteristics, Ms. C is, without a doubt, an extremely successful person. As I myself want to become a mathematics teacher for high school students, I sincerely view Ms. C as a wonderful mentor who I aspire to be like. Furthermore, anyone who wants to become successful should consider Ms. C’s ideals. They can surely lead anyone to live a successful life owing to the fact that her ideas clearly illustrate the broader definition of success. As recalled, success is defined as the achievement of goals and Ms. C evidently represented multiple accomplishments towards goals in her life.
