Recommendations
Gleaner’s communication process is very strong. They have had a lot of experience learning how to communicate to their desired audiences. A recommendation that could be made to help them improve their external communication process is trying to set a guideline that focuses more on a specific audience. Gleaners should focus on younger generations with the goal of having them more as volunteers, and less as donors. College students and young adults might have some extra time to volunteer in their community, but generally do not have excess money that could be donated. The vice versa is applied; older generations should be contacted more for donations, and less for volunteering.

This allows for messages to be effectively communicated to target audiences. The company certainly alternates its messages depending on if the intended audience is volunteers, donors, other companies, families in need, etc. But when the organization writes to different generations, its communication methods hardly change. Gleaners wants to keep the charitable tone throughout all messages and on all platforms the organization uses.
