The Roaring Twenties was known as the period soon after the end of World War I. The people of this time were hoping for a new change to come ahead and bring a period of happiness, instead of the gloomy period once before. The United States was beginning to turn over from a time of war to a time of peace.
They started with their economy. Americans spent their money on improving their surroundings such as roads, tourism, and real estate. New technology began to be on rise such as cars, refrigerators, telephones, radios, ovens, etc. This made Americans began to start living in the higher standards. They bought their own houses and filled them the latest technology. Food was also cheap because of the abundance produced on farms. Radio and music were very popular. The radio covered everything that Americans relied on such as news, sports, music, and other forms of entertainment.
America during the 1920s popularized many cities and made them become the biggest attractions of the country. New York was at the top of the list with its huge skyscrapers and buildings. Chicago and New York brought about many industries which created many job opportunities. These jobs consisted of many more office jobs. These jobs involved secretaries, in which women favored these positions. However, many women still worked some factory jobs even after the war.
Women won the right the vote in 1920 and also gained much independence by beginning to work jobs instead of only men getting the credit for “bringing home the bacon.” They also developed a new style known as the “flapper” style. This consisted of skirts, dresses and short bob haircuts. The dresses were sparkly and had fringes. They also were cloche hats, especially during the day. When the women did not dress as flappers, they wore pants a lot of time. This was the first time women really began to wear pants.
Men dressed very formal and semiformal in the 1920s. Their wardrobe consisted of tuxedos and dress suits. They wore long neck ties, dress coats, vest, and loafers.
So basically, the 1920's or “Roaring Twenties” was a time of major change for America as a nation. Just following the Great War America was on the fast track to new times. There was the model t car, the stock market boom and crash, the banning of alcohol, the radio, jazz music, women seeking independence, Americans seeking higher education, union strikes, the red scare, the death of President Harding and many more. Many people say this was an enjoyable time of constant dancing and entertainment galore, while others would say that the hardships of racism and poverty made this time period one of struggle and hardships. While others only remember the 1920's as the creation of mickey mouse or babe Ruth. This decade truly was “The Roaring Twenties”.
Their style was introduced in the early 1910s but did not spark until the 1920s. The style was said to be more comfortable, but was not appealing to the more conservative. Before the change of style, most women were dressed modestly; however, women's fashion in the 1920s showcased a more “boyish” and comfortable, look which led to huge controversy and affects how women dress today. Although to society now, these changes may not be seen as a big deal, back then it would split society.
The 1920s was a time of conservatism and it was a time of great social change. From the world of fashion to the world of politics, forces clashed to produce the most explosive decade of the century. It was the age of prohibition, it was the age of prosperity, and it was the age of downfall.
In the 1920's women's roles were soon starting to change. After World War One it was called the "Jazz Age", known for new music and dancing styles. It was also known as the "Golden Twenties" or "Roaring Twenties" and everyone seemed to have money. Both single and married women we earning higher- paying jobs. Women were much more than just staying home with their kids and doing house work. They become independent both financially and literally. Women also earned the right to vote in 1920 after the Nineteenth Amendment was adopted. They worked hard for the same or greater equality as men and while all this was going on they also brought out a new style known as the flapper. All this brought them much much closer to their goal.
Throughout history, many things had a great and lasting impact on America. The Roaring Twenties was a time of great social and economic growth to the economy. Many people saw this as an ideal way to live, others thought that it was irresponsible and just a phase. Well those others were right, America has many similarities taken from the 20’s today, but also things have changed and people are more responsible now. America’s history was impacted by the Roaring Twenties because of the great economic boom, the change in how women were viewed, and also the many advances in technology that were made. The twenties will forever be an age to remember.

The 1920's was a time of change in the United States. “The Roaring Twenties” had an outstanding impact on the economy, social standards and everyday life. It was a time for positive results in the consumer goods industry and American families, because of higher wages, shorter working hours, and manufacturing was up 60% in consumer goods. But it was also a time of adversity and opposition for others, such as immigrants and farmers. Immigrants had lots of competition when they were looking for work and they weren't treated fairly by Americans, depending on where they came from and what they believed.
What if there was a cure for cancer or a treatment for spinal injuries? Would you support the research? What if there was a way that you could repair damaged nerves. Some believe that stem cells may hold the answers to some of these questions. What are stem cells and why should you or I even care about them? Some believe that they are a miracle treatment waiting to happen while others believe that stem cells are highly immoral. Why does so much controversy surround the issue? Why is the conversation of stem cells feared by some and praised by others? To some stem cells are the medical hopes for the future, something for us to hang on to as we do battle with major diseases that include cancer, Parkston’s disease and spinal injuries. To others stem cell researchers are murderers who are trying to play God’s hand. A many have pledged their support to stem cell research including a few well known celebrities. Reeves’, who was best known for his role in the early Superman movies, and J. Fox two well-known celebrities, have pledged to stem cell research, both have created a private fund for the research of stem cells. This celebrity however has not swayed everyone to support stem cell researches cause. Just as there are supporters of stem cells there are those who believe that the use of stem cells is immoral. Since the first stem cells were separated there have been doctors, religious groups and even some political figure head have shown their opposition for stem cell research. Even with the knowledge and promise that stem cells show many of those who truly oppose stem cells have not changed their mind. The question is are their reasons good enough to halt the research of stem cell or are they just holding back what will soon be inevi...
