I must first begin by saying I do believe that God has one, universal church, the church of God. “The Church of God in Name Only,” is an effort to criticize those who profess a high claim, yet fall very short in living to that claim. In my estimation many who profess to be God's holy people are not, because the scripture deems such individuals unholy. Such people are not the Church of God.
In order to comprehend the reasoning behind such a subject one must already have a general idea of the Church of God's standard. I will not go into great detail concerning the following topics. The Church of God teaches justification, sanctification, unity, divine healing eternity, modesty, the trinity, and various doctrines. However, this same institution fails to live in accordance to their own claim concerning a few of the core doctrines. Holiness simply means freedom from sin and sinful affections. Sanctification is the act of consecrating or of setting apart for a sacred purpose. Unity is the state of being one. Evidence will show that the lives of many professed Christians are falling short of their own taught standard.
It is easy for the Church of God to condemn the religious world. The majority of denominations outwardly teach a standard that is not biblical. For instance, many ministers, from various affiliations, teach one cannot have power over sin or the flesh. So as a result, Church of God attendees feel justified because they understand such a teaching is erroneous. However, if the Church of God were to be judged based solely upon her claims, disregarding the religious world, what would be found? Is the message of the Church of God producing a people who are holy and manifest the power of God through signs by faith?

In order for the Church of God to make these necessary adjustments someone must possess a burden. In these last days God needs men and women to seek God with a weighted burden. In the words of E. Faith Stewart, “if we get down to where we need to be, then the glory of the morning time will be ours.” It is my sincere hope that God will find a few willing vessels to get down where they need to be. God has a people, but they may need to forsake their groups, their ideas, and their followings, so God can have a beautiful Church of God that is one and complete in Him. The Church of God cannot be God's church in name only, but it must be God's church in reality.
I agree with Kitchens, Mead, and Roxburgh who all basically say in their own way that one change in ministry that we need to focus on more is the congregational life of the church. However, I think Mead explains it best when he says that the future church must be more intentional in the spiritual formation of its laity (Mead, location 919). According to Mead, the church is moving towards becoming a more missional institution that cares for the needs of the community. Therefore, oftentimes laity will be the ones on the front lines and will need the capacity to minister to people on their own without the help of clergy. In order to do this they will need more directed and intensive training to deal with...
In the eyes of the people the church is one place you are spared from judgment and critique. It is the one place you should feel safe, to express your thoughts and opinions, pray to the higher power in which you believe and your faith resides and be free of society qualms, demands, and realism. In a part
The church or Ecclesia, as it is called in the original Greek language, regardless of size, are the called out ones who assemble to represent the Body and life of Jesus Christ. They engage in meetings of praise, worship, and listening to the Word of God, which is taken from their manual called the Holy Bible, or the Scriptures; those bringing the message are considered to be the mouthpieces for God, and are typically called preachers (KJV, Eph 5.23-32). According to the Bible, the church, which includes the preachers, is to strive to exemplify the type of life that Jesu...
I believe the Church has been talking about God for long enough now. We're due for a change. People know enough about God. They know what God likes and what God doesn't and how God would generally want them to live their lives. It seems, to us and to them, that we just keep repeating ourselves. As I said, we've been talking about God for long enough now.
Free speech comes in many forms, some offensive and some non-offensive. One of the more offensive sites on the Internet is the homepage for the World Church of the Creator.
Jesus Christ, said he was the way, the truth, and life and that no one enters the kingdom of heaven accept through him. Through Catholicism, Christ’s Church, humanity has everything necessary for salvation. Since humanity is the Body of Christ, we are all called to his Church and to fulfill the Gospel. Though not everyone has the full knowledge of Christ and his Church, every individual has mission to find the fullness of truth and to seek it.
The church is the hub in which we as Christians come together as brothers and sisters in Christ to learn and study God’s Word. The church, according to passage, states that there should be no high statuses within the church and that we should all be on the same level playing field. Scripture tells us that we should be obedient; I read this to include the church and all of us who make up the congregation. We are told that Jesus lived a selfless life as he served His Father and I believe as servants to him, we should live the same kind of life as he did. I believe that at times it is difficult to be humbled in our lives and be forgiving of others, but scripture tells us that as a church, we should lead by example. We are promised by his word, that God created all things in the heavens and earth and that we shall bow and worship Him, shout praises to him, so that we can live a glorious life with him in His kingdom
A cult may be defined as a group of people centred about one person’s religious, social or political ideology (Martin, 2003). It is a movement that venerates a specific person, and uses manipulative techniques to recruit members and raise funds. Cults demand complete obedience from the members and use them to work, provide money and provide sexual favours for the benefit of the leaders. Most cults engage in criminal activities such as child marriages, sexual abuse, kidnapping, assault, arson and even murder (Snow, 2003). Over the years, there has been a brisk rise in the number of people starting up cults and those joining them. Individuals are in a bid to discover their significance through passionate and spiritual experiences, which are provided by cults. Reasons why people turn to cults include loneliness, lack of personal identity and alienation (Martin, 2003). There have been many cults in the course of American history. One of the most infamous cults is the Fundamentalist Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints (FLDS). This paper will give a brief history of the cult, its methods of action, the toxic effects of its beliefs and the methods of treatment used for survivors.
...t. If we do not wake up and smell the coffee in this area, then it won’t be long before what gets preached in the pulpits become illegal. For that reason, we need to stop playing church. We need to be the church, as Jesus wants us to be. That is how the church will still remain in existence for generations to come. It is time to get very close to the Word of God, as the coming of Jesus is very near.
The Baptist faith believes in the precepts of Trinity, Heaven, and Hell. Surprisingly Mary does not have a special place in the Baptist religion. They don’t teach the assumption of Mary because Mary is seen as just Jesus’ mother. As for the belief in Saints, they really don’t designate saints because they believe that we all have been saved and we are all God’s messengers. Unlike Christianity, Baptists don’t have bishops or Cardinals. The Baptist religion has a much more loose structure than the Catholic faith.
Topics such as evolution and the existence of God were not brought up in traditional churches because keeping quiet and quietly receiving whatever the pastor or priest chose the sermon to be was required. The priest or pastor chose a certain parable or message in the bible and evaluated its meaning to the congregants. Roman Catholics believe in working out one’s salvation while adherents of non-denominational churches stress fellowship and the belief that one’s salvation is not dependent on works. Groups and activities in megachurches to denominational churches have different purposes and goals to be achieved. Roman Catholic churches celebrate sainthood and charitable acts done for the poor while megachurches hold activities that increase fellowship among members and enhance many biblical principles. “From modern Christian rock in their services to elaborately designed yet highly attractive Web pages, megachurches—as with many others in the modern era—effectively use the most modern media and communication methods to “preach the Word” and attract believers” (Weight
The Christian religion is the call of humans to nature, to guide and direct the unfolding of human creativity and the potential for the good of all and the protection of the earth (Valk, 2012). In the Christian worldview God calls upon man to live accordingly to the teachings done by Jesus when he was here with man. Jesus taught man that we should love our neighbors, to love one another like he had loved us (John 13:34). A good solution to human problems is love, love is outlined throughout the Bible of how important love is to humanity. Faith in God, and grace play a role in the salvation of Christianity; God and his grace allows man to live and work for salvation. Through the work of salvation man contributes to the solution of love towards the problems that face today’s society. When one has faith in God, and accepts the teachings by Jesus new opportunities are presented and given where behaviors and attitudes can then be
The Church teaches people the moral truth, which contains the truth about sexuality. The church could connect with other churches, denominations and religious groups in teaching and fostering this morality.
The doctrine of the church is ecclesiology, which comes from the greek word church - human beings who are like Christ. This doctrine is a doctrine for the universal church. We sometimes enter a singular way of talking about our culture when the bible speaks in plurality. Ecclesiology gives us the basis of our belief and marks of the church which gives us clarity of what it means to be “one holy catholic and apostolic.” The church bears four marks: Unity, Holiness, Catholicity, and Apostolicity. These four marks are the truth about the church. We must act in Unity because the church is one, 1 Corinthians 12:12 say “Just as the body is one and as many members, and all the members of the body, though many, are one body, so it is with Christ.” The Holiness is a inheritance given to us by Christ. However we can not achieve that alone. As we open ourselves to the Holy Spirit, He actualizes that for us. Catholicity is the universality and wholeness the church, making room for people to enter the body of Christ. Lastly is apostolicity which is about the authority and truth, and the authority of the apostles is in their eyewitness testimony of Jesus (2 Peter 1:16). The church teaches about the apostles truth that is true to the gospel of Jesus
The message of the Church of God is “come out of her my people and be not a partaker of her (Babylon) sins.” Come out of all false religion, even if it be under the guise Church of God. Renounce sects, denominations, and systems of men! Forsake ecumenism for it is the promotion of Satan and is available at a bargain rate at almost every religious grocer's market, but at the price of eternal damnation. It costs nothing to obtain the approval of religious establishments, but will cost man his soul because it does not obtain the approval of God. Ecumenism is of the flesh and has deceived and will continue to deceive multitudes. There is only one kind of unity that meets the approval of heaven and the criteria of God's word, and it is the unity of the spirit. May fellowship first begin with God, and with his Son Jesus Christ.
