Is homosexual behavior learned or is it genetics?
It has been an ongoing debate whether homosexuality is genetics or a learned behavior. Sexual orientation is usually explained as a characteristic of the individual, such as biological sex, gender identity, or age. This is only partially true because sexual orientation must have something to do with relationships with other individuals.
Many people cannot understand why anyone would want to get involved in homosexual activity. There are many arguments about homosexuality whether is by nature or nurture. Before we make judgments on homosexuality, we need to identify the causes of homosexuality. Homosexuality is caused by genetic, biological and environmental factors.
Human sexuality has been one of society's most interesting, controversial, debated, and misunderstood topics. It has been the topic of numerous books, essays, documentaries, websites, and television magazine segments. More specifically, homosexuality is probably the most misunderstood aspect of human sexuality. This is mainly due to lack of education, exposure, or just a general close mindedness. Homosexual tendencies are genetically caused, but acting on these tendencies is a choice caused by a number of factors, different for different people.
The finding mean usually relies in the shadow of the fathers' absence. This could be changed if a father properly trains his son to be candid on his instilled values becoming a man. Therefore, it is not an uplifting question of why homosexuals occurs in the post-modern era. Genes may be related to the development of sexual orientation, recent studies shows that an increased choice of homosexuality in men whose mothers previously carried to many male children.
Even though it is against nature, some individuals are born with complete desire to same sex. Abraham Verghese in his article A fresh look at homosexuality said, “While welcoming and agreeing with a positive perception of homosexuality, it is difficult to accept the position that homosexuality is a normal psychosexual development. A normal variant cannot be considered completely normal. It is, in fact, an aberration in the psychosexual development, caused by genetic and psychosocial factors for which the person is not responsible. There are research findings, which suggest that there are structural differences in the brains of people with homosexual orientation.”(qdt pg 1) This quote proves the claim of having a different biological format for homosexuals from any normal heterosexual. These cases are completely helpless and have nothing to do with being homosexuals; it is a natural stimulus that they were born with. Therefore in such cases, it is critical to understand that they have no control over their unnatural
The term sexual orientation is known as the preference of one’s sexual partners, whether the same sex, opposite sex, or both sexes. Sexual orientation occurs when a child reaches the adolescent stages in life (Broderick & Blewitt, 2015). Adolescents activate their sexual orientation within four steps that create their identity. Adolescents are unaware of their identity at the beginning stages of sexual orientation.
The construction of human sexuality has been and remains an enigma in today’s society. The prominent and well fought debate can be compacted into one simple title: Nature vs. Nurture. There is no clear answer to how our human sexuality is formed.
Homosexuality is very prominent in today’s society. In the 20th century and even before that, same-sex feelings and marriages were barely even heard of, since the majority of people were heterosexual and married the opposite sex. Even from a psychological view, it was considered a mental illness. Throughout the late 20th century into the 21st century, same-sex relationships became a huge topic. Finally, on June 26, 2015, same-sex marriage became legalized in all fifty states of America (CNN). Many people rejoiced as this marked a new beginning and new point in American history. But are there causes by which people become homosexual or bisexual? Some different theories/causes of homosexuality are looked at through the psychodynamic theory, the

Many of these theories blame the parents for the child eventually being attracted to the same sex. According to the experienced writer Mary Meehan, “… a child develops a homosexual disposition because the same-sex parent has been emotionally distant, cold, or hostile.” (Meehan par. 10) Meehan places all of the pressure on parents to make sure they are loving and she also believes it’s important to reinforce gender roles in this statement, “…. a weak father, who does not draw his son into the world of men and masculinity, and a domineering mother who draws the son into her world” (Meehan par. 21). This would insinuate that every tomboy or male who enjoys an activity such as cooking would undoubtedly be homosexual. However, another cause is the emotional trauma from being sexually abused or molested by the same sex as a child. This is usually thought to be from a creepy uncle or even from the seemly trustworthy priest that cause the victims to become homosexual for the rest of their life, or until they seek
