100? 1000? year? Global Warming is deteriorating as time goes on and humans are the main cause of it and if we don’t do something to stop it we are endangering our future. Global Warming is the phenomenon of increasing average air temperature near the surface of earth over the past one to two centuries.
If we fail to cut back on the burning of fossil fuels, such as oil and coal, scientists say during the 21st century earth could warm up to an additional 7.2 degrees Fahrenheit. The first initial problem is ice caps melting which causes a rise in sea levels. There are 5,773,000 cubic miles of water in permanent snow, glaciers, and ice caps. According to the National Snow and Ice Data Center, if all glaciers melted today the seas would rise about 230 feet. Melting ice caps will throw the global ecosystem out of balance.
Global warming is the rise in average temperature of Earth’s atmosphere and oceans. If the warming continues it will have drastic effects on our lives in the future. Things such as harsher summers and colder winters will become a reality for future generations. Global warming is real, despite what the naysayers say, and it will affect us in many different ways if we can’t solve this problem. By presenting skeptics arguments about global warming I’ll prove global warming to be real by disproving them.
The causes and effects of Global Warming The Earth has experienced considerable climate change for the last several centuries. There have been many explanations toward the main causes of the increased warming of the planet, but according to IPCC climate report: human impact is unequivocal. The recent weather events that Canada has experienced in Toronto and Calgary have proven Canada is at great risk from the climate change. A UN panel said it was more certain than ever that humans were the cause of global warming and they also predicted temperatures could rise from 0.3 to 4.8 degrees Celsius in this century. According to the IPCC report it is certain that pollution from burning fossil fuels is changing earth’s climate.
There are two major reasons of global warming: human factors and natural factors. They can be summarized as follows. The recent surge in population is one of the main factors leading to global warming. At the same time, it is also a serious threat to the balance between the natural environment. So much of the population, only a year of carbon dioxide emissions are staggering figure, the result will be a direct result of atmospheric carbon dioxide levels continue to increase, so the formation of carbon dioxide "greenhouse effect" will directly affect the Earth 's surface climate change .
One of the major problem that global warming is causing is the melting of sea ice in the arctic. Due to the melting of the sea ice, global temperature suffers. In order to stop the global climate change, the congressional committee on environment must pass a legislation to regulate the use of fossil fuels, because climate change in the arctic is causing all the ice to melt, the permafrost to thaw, and it has huge impact on the vegetation and the wildlife. Over the years the loss of extensive amount of ice serves as the evidence that, arctic is in fact warming faster than any other region on the earth. According to NSIDC, March 2015 ice extension is recorded at average 14.39 million square kilometers.
Global warming is caused by pollution eating away at the ozone layer of the atmosphere, as well as greenhouse gases trapping heat. The global average surface temperature rose 0.6 to 0.9 degrees Celsius (1.1 to 1.6° F) between 1906 and 2005, and the rate of temperature increase has nearly doubled in the last 50 years. (Riebeek 2) Many scientists believe that the effects of global warming will greatly impact the planet. Direct effect of Global Warming is increased heat on Earth then it will cause ice on poles to melt, leading to rising sea levels and land loss, because many areas will be under water. Besides that, many events of catastrophic weather will occur, such as droughts, floods, volcanic, tsunamis and earthquake.
Global warming has caused many problems to the earth in addition to the humans that live here on the earth. A problem caused by global warming is very hot summers. Some summers have had days that the temperature had reached 30*C. Another Problem that global warming has caused is the melting of polar ice caps. Global warming caused the polar ice caps to melt which will cause the ice to break free as well as melt in the sea, sea levels all over the world will rise. Lastly, global warming has started to break down the ozone layers.
1) Higher Temperature During the 20th century both air and sea temperature has increased and causing several problems. The increase in temperature has caused damages to our eco system. In some countries temperature has increased by a few degrees. In winter, in places where it was cold, now the temperatures has increased and even the sea temperatures have increased, which is melting the Iceberg and destroying the marine life. Scientists projected that if emissions of heat-trapping carbon emission aren’t reduced, average surface temperature could increased 3 to 10 degrees Fahrenheit by the end the century.
Earth has its cooling and heating periods. But scientist fear that the heating periods are happening faster than usual to because of the manmade emissions. There are natural causes that cause climate change but the increase in emissions from man made products has increased climate change drastically than it’s usual because of our deforestation, burning of fossil fuels, and intensive farming.
