Have you ever found yourself questioning the things that seem to mean so much to you? How about the Lord? I’ve found myself questioning the Lord before and it can be overwhelming. In his book, The Case for Christ, Lee Strobel takes this very matter into his own hands. As the former legal editor of the Chicago Tribune, he asks all the right questions to find out the truth about the Son of the Lord. In reading this book, I have found a new strength in the foundations of my faith by hearing the facts that experts in their field have. In chapter one, the main idea is a question of: can the four Gospels in the New Testament be trusted as the eyewitness accounts of the life of Christ? Lee goes to see Dr. Craig Bloomberg, a scholar who has written a book on the reliability of the four Gospels. He interviews him to see what’s what. Lee asks him many questions, trying to figure out the facts. By the end of the chapter, he has evidence about the said eyewitness accounts of Jesus. In ministry, to know the reliability of what you’re preaching, teaching, or talking about is huge. So, the more I learn about the four Gospels, the more I can tell someone and help them believe in Jesus. Personally, I have found new strength in my own walk with the Lord. Hearing all the facts and information about documents that back up what the Gospels are saying, has helped me to back up my own faith. There is a surprisingly large amount of people and documents that prove that what Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John are saying is true. There was something that Dr. Bloomberg had said that I really enjoyed hearing. He said that back in ancient times, no one wrote down something from history if there wasn’t something worth learning in it. I have learned a good bit more about Jesus and the ancient documents and historians that support and point to Him. It has helped me to strengthen my faith and belief that Jesus is the Son of the Lord and has truly lived and died and resurrected. Lee Strobel’s The Case for Christ has really pushed me to research and learn more about the Lord and His Word. This book really has been put into my hands at a perfect time in my life. There had been questions of my faith and life that I was terribly confused about. I’m still hungry for more answer, but I am much better off than I was a couple weeks ago. I’m actually very grateful for this book.
