Coming into college just a few short months ago I was unsure of what career or even what major I wanted to pursue. Even now as I work through this paper I was unsure as to the direction I wanted to take. Although what I have taken away from my first semester has lead me in the direction of field I feel comfortable pursing. I have always found the corporate business world interesting especially in the fields of computing and technology. This has led me towards the career of Solutions Architect. A Solutions Architect is definitely a profession that has come to the workforce as of late with the evolution of the modern workforce. I know that I don’t want to be a completely one minded worker and the ability to blend both sides of a booming industry is an opportunity I can’t pass up. On one hand you’re running a business deal where you are in boardroom and meeting environments dealing with other workers and customers. While on the other hand you also are managing the development of the product on the computer science side, making sure the developers understand the problem and that your team is working towards a clear and concise solution. As I move forward in a career in this field I would like to achieve credibility as an individual who can consistently provide a solid product that meets the customers’ needs one hundred percent of the time. In the case that a customer isn’t satisfied I would like to make sure that we cover ourselves on all fronts and provide the customer with what they need. Moving into the future I would like to begin to carve out a new “solutions”, firm for myself. Not only would I bring designers and developers but, I would also like to bring in systems and industrial engineers so we could solve not only technological problems but, also systems and industrial issues. One week you could find yourself working to develop a new software program that help real estate developers while the next week you’re working with a school system to develop a student roster program. It is all very relative to the company you represent or the firm you operate. Something about this industry that I find very interesting is its attachment to defense contracting with the military. I could own and operate my own firm that solely develops programs and systems used by the government. This is the kind of work I would sought after as continuing work for the nation that serves a greater purpose is a task my team and myself could get
