The article I chose was The Big Squeeze published by Kenneth Chang. Within this article Kenneth Chang speaks about experiments being done at Carnegie Institution for Science in Washington, DC. Which the researchers at Carnegie are compressing a numerous number of organic substances between diamond anvils allowing the researchers the ability to observe molecular changes, this research will allow scientists to analyze permutations of matter which are happening within the Earth's core and also within Jupiter and even other intensely pressurized environments. A dial caliper was available for purchase online through the use of a simple Google search. The dial caliper was a long metal object with one dial, that was adjustable and that moved the two sharp points at the end of the caliper further away from each other. The purpose of the dial caliper was to measure the length of space between the two sharper points of the dial caliper.

Anorexia Nervosa has been a problematic disease many women suffer from. The article “The Slender Trap” was composed by Trina Rys who is a stay at home mother with a husband and one daughter. Rys writes the main reasons a woman may develop anorexia from. She states that the psychological pressures, expectations of friends and family and influences of the media all are factors when a woman is inflicted with the disease. I strongly agree with Rys persuading argument that anorexia could be caused by an unknown identity and the overall main focus of the ideal image of a woman. Although, I believe Rys requires a stronger argument on whether food restrictions executed by parents are a major step to developing the harmful illness. She seems to put emphasize on mainly women but does not shine any light on men.

Mike Stern is an American jazz guitarist known presently for his solo work and previously as the guitarist for legendary trumpeter Miles Davis in the early 1980s. Much of Stern’s compositions and improvisations incorporate a variety of musical styles including rock, blues and jazz traditions. Big Neighborhood is Stern’s 14th solo album released in 2009. The album is recognized for its eclectic musical styles and guest artist collaborations. Since the beginning of the Industrial Revolution fossil fuels and oil have been our main sources of energy, and until recently that has been acceptable. After the oil crisis in the 1970’s, people began to grow concerned about the future state of our energy supplies. That culminating concern combined with the new concern of human initiated alteration of the atmospheric composition, encouraged scientists to try and come up with a new source of clean fuel that produced no emissions. Thermochemical Water Splitting was first conceptualized in the mid 1960’s1. At the time is wasn’t necessary because oil was so cheap there was no need for an alternative, so it faded away. The hunt for clean energy source led to a revitalization of the thermochemical water splitting system. A system that if fully developed, could efficiently produce hydrogen and oxygen fuel without the harmful emissions of gasoline and coal2.
