Physical Therapy
As Carol Welch, an emotional therapist with the National Counselling Society, once stated, “Movement is a medicine for creating change in a person's physical, emotional, and mental states”(“Daily Good”). Welch knows that movement is important for one’s health. Physical therapists help people’s physical and mental states on the job daily. As one prepares for a future in the field of physical therapy, educational requirements, , the benefits and possibility for advancement, and the duties and responsibilities of physical therapy.

A physical therapist is able to choose what field of physical therapy one might want to go into. There is a wide variety of those fields that include but are not limited to pediatric, acute, and orthopedic. If someone is wanting to go into the field of physical therapy, but also wanting to work with children then they would want to choose pediatric physical therapy. Also physical therapist are highly educated professionals on movement. They learn how to relax muscles, reduce pain these qualities can be beneficial in case someone is unable to get a cramp out. Another wonderful benefit is helping others. Physical therapist is voted one of the happiest jobs you can have because on a day to day basis they’re helping someone regain movement. They are also able to choose if they want to be their own boss by owning their own clinic or being a colleague of one. There is also the benefit of job security. The american population is filled with baby boomers who are now growing in age and are causing a higher need for physical therapist. A physical therapist is there to help a patient and determine a treatment for that patient. A physical therapist will need to know how to treat and care for patients with many disabilities and problems. This may include physical and mental. Also a physical therapist will need the different types of treatment that may best fit certain disorders. The therapist will need to be understanding and caring. This way if the patient also has mental disorders that may make them a little slower at movement. Physical therapist need to know that they will be handling a lot of paperwork due to the number of patients. An education is a foundation for many people lives. Having an education will develop social interactions, help students become more creative, it aids us to contribute to the economy and prepare us for of career. A physical therapist must be able to handle the school work that is given to them. When applying to a DPT program your minimum prerequisite GPA must be 3.0, which I exceed. You must also take the GRE and have at least average score of one-hundred fifty. This will also look very good when applying to a DPT program. Then you must have observation hours. Some school may accept fifty hours, and other may take one-hundred and more. So far I have been able to complete over sixty hours of observation. I have been able to Prepare the treatment room for patient by following prescribed procedures and protocols. I also help treat patients by applying heat packs, assisting patients into a whirlpool, monitoring their motion, measuring mobility, performing prescribed exercises and strengthening techniques as an example. All of these assets I learned from my observation gives me an advantage on to become a successful physical therapist. In addition, to become a successful physical therapist you must have the proper resume as well. In every career, you have to provide your profession with a resume which must contain every feature about yourself to show why your a better fit than the rest. Your resume

Therefore, the decision is decided based on a student wanting eight years of college, tons of paperwork, and the liability. If he has the patience and dedication, he is capable of being a physical therapist. Once I learned about eight years of college and tons of paperwork, my decision changed. With others it can be different. I think the best part about physical therapy is helping people getting back on their feet, but I think the disadvantages outweigh the advantages. Others might think differently.
I have learned a lot between these two careers through this researcher paper that I have a better understanding what interest me more. I believe physical therapy is more relaxed and calm environment for my patients and me. Some physical therapist has crazy work hours but most of them have regular 5 to 9 hours and come home to family members who worked in this particular field one became a respiratory therapist and the other is still in school working on her Doctor of Physical Therapy. They both tell me that they love their jobs. In a personal interview with my cousin Hayley Bayne Told me "It's a wonderful feeling to work with my others. I enjoy the challenge of keeping them motivated and I am always doing something different everyday" (Bayne). This job also has a lot of perks depending on where or what field you want to work in. Besides keeping in shape, if I decided to do physical therapy in the sports field there is a very good chance that I can meet all sorts of famous athletes. A physical therapist treats patients that are suffering from physical injuries or disabilities by use of properties such as exercise, heat, water, electricity, and massages. The physical therapist evaluates clients and chooses a type of programming depending on the results of their evaluation. I have always been interested about Physical Therapist ever since my ACL injury. I knew that I need a good education, and I also need good social skills to make it in this career. But I need to know what kind of college degrees I need to obtain, and what other skills I need to be an acceptable Physical Therapist. By using Mississippi Choices, the Internet, and books from the library, I discovered all the important details of becoming a Physical Therapist.
With the help of physical therapists, people are able to get their body back. They construct elasticity, muscle, and life back into their patients. Their goals are to terminate people’s pain, help with range of motion, and give them their sense of confidence back. The meaning of physical therapy is a profession in the medical field that deals with helping individuals preserve, repair, and improve movement. However, physical therapy is not only limited to one type of personnel. There are many different specialties of physical therapy one can study. For example, physical therapy can range from: orthopedic, geriatrics, neurological, cardiopulmonary, pediatrics, athletics, and general physical therapy. The question that comes to mind when thinking about physical therapy is, “How does one chose the path of physical therapy?” Physical therapy is emotionally and physically demanding and the progress of a patient, depending on their situation, typically moves slowly. Nonetheless, people who find it rewarding are very happy with their choice of career. The thought of making an improvement in peoples’ lives is an important quality to have for those who would like to enter into the field.

Being compassionate, detail oriented, dexterity, having interpersonal skills, physical stamina, and being resourcefulness are important characteristics to being a successful physical therapist. Being a physical therapist is w=hard work and I now have full respect for the people who have this job.

A physical therapist will help an injured or sick person feel better and get their normal body functions back to normal again. A physical therapist will help strengthen the injured part of the patient so that a recurring injury is not likely to happen. They will also help a patient recover after a surgery, stroke, heart attack, or rehabilitate somebody that has had a life threatening event happen. The work environment for a physical therapist is usually in a hospital, although, they can provide home health care services or work in their own building. It takes a unique individual to want to become a Physical Therapist. These professionals have a lot of personal traits that are a must need to excel in the Physical Therapy field. A Physical therapist could be faced with a patient/client that might be angry, sad, or confused, so being able to relate to these individuals is a great quality all therapist must have. These personal traits are skills like being relaxed and determined, supportive, and of course knowledgeable.
Physical therapy is a career that will always be needed throughout society; it helps the human body rebuild physical function in people that have been injured, have birth defects, or any other reasons. Physical therapy is one the medical specialties doctors reply on. There are certain education requirements to become one, just like many other careers. It is a career that an individual who enjoys helping people and working in the medical field would be perfect for. Physical therapy has recently become one of the most sought out professions, which is why it is now even that much harder to become one. A physical therapist is one who will provide treatment for one to maintain or restore maximum movement; while it is a fascinating profession this research essay will not focus on the actual profession. Physical Therapy is obviously associated with injuries, but let’s discuss the schooling behind the profession, how long do you assist a seasoned Physical Therapist, and what is the salary for a physical therapist.
Some schools do offer an undergraduate/doctoral degree program that allows any student to graduate with both, bachelor's and doctoral degrees. This may give the student an extra advantage when it comes to applying for a job. Volunteering is something that many doctoral programs may require, so any student that volunteer in a hospital or clinic not only allows them to enter the program, but also gives them experience that will be useful later on in his or her career. In the end all students must earn a doctoral degree in Physical Therapy in order to actually practice as a therapist. These programs last around 3 years. As part of training you are supervised for seven months in a clinical setting that includes lab and classroom instruction in medical diagnostic, patient examination and evaluation, orthopedics, prosthetic, and medical screening. Clinical experience,as i have said before, is the best way in preparing people that are pursuing this career. A physical therapist does a lot of things to help patients get back to what they normally do day to day before an injury. They do this by coming up with plans that helps to reduce pains and help restore movements and make goals for patients. They help by having a hands-on approach and being able to help with exercises and stretches they also massage muscles to help manipulate them to move. They also use different technology to help with anything that deals with the movement or that would restrict movement such as ultrasounds and electrotherapy.
Physical therapists are health care professionals that provide therapeutic services to their patients who have temporary or chronic physical conditions that were caused from injury or disease. Physical therapist also provided therapeutic services to patients after they have gone through surgery to help them gain back mobility and manage their pain. They can also work in preventive care by promoting healthy life styles and instructing individual patients or groups on preventing injury by using exercises that stretch and strengthen muscles. To help their patients try to recover they use massage techniques, wellness plans, and different types of equipment. When a physical therapist sees a patient for the very first time they must do an examination, evaluation, diagnosis, and then put together a physical intervention to start the rehabilitation process. They also work as a team with other health care professionals to help with their patients needs. Physical therapist can really make a difference in their patient’s lives by not only providing therapeutic services but also encouraging and motivating them so they can get better. The main goals of physical therapist are to help their patients retain or gain back lost physical mobility, eliminate or reduce pain, increase productivity and help promote a healthy life style so patients can have a better quality of life and become more independent.
