Introduction
For most people owning a dog or just a pet is a vital part of their life. There are approximately 71 million households in America that have at least 1 pet. That is around 62% of America. Even though dogs can make great companions, they are also good for a other things like emotional and physical aspects (Casciotti). Some seeing eye dogs are even able to detect seizures or help with occupational therapy and speech therapy. Some studies show that people who own dogs have reduced stress levels, lower blood pressure, less of a chance for heart disease, and less of a chance for depression (Dotson). That alone could save a lot of money or lower costs on healthcare for some people. Also pet owners, specifically dog owners, get a lot of exercise while walking or playing with their dogs which again is very beneficial.
