The Beliefs of Christians About Their Responsibility for Those at the Beginning and End of Their Life
All life is sacred because it comes from God and hence should be
respected and used in a way that God wanted us to use it. In Genesis
we are told how everything is created from God, which means that life,
is a gift to us from God and we are told in Genesis just what Gods
perfect image is and also that God has a plan for each of us. Human
life is precious and special to God and as it is a gift from God so we
should try and please him in what we do.
“God created man in his own image, in the image of God he created him”
We learn in the Ten Commandments that life should be respected. They
are an outline on how to threat God and other people in everyday life.
Jesus told the rich young man that to inherit eternal life he must
keep the commandments.
Christians believe that a foetus is a new life from the moment of
conception. The beginning of life is mentioned in Jeremiah 1V5
“Before I formed you in the womb I knew you,
Before you were born I set you apart; I
Appointed you as a prophet to the nations.”
God has set us apart for a mission and has considered an unborn child
to be a living being. This would lead us to believe that God has plans
for people even before they are born because Jeremiah claims to have
been made a prophet before birth. In Luke’s description of the birth
of Jesus and Mary visiting her cousin Elizabeth she realised that she
was also expecting a baby. When Mary entered Elizabeth’s house the
baby jumped into her womb. The baby in the womb is shown here to have
human qualities and also it could respond to God even though they were
both still unborn. Christians believe the baby in the womb should be
respected and protected.
Christians feel that they have a responsibility to help and care for
