John Lennon was very outspoken and contributed greatly to his mission of peace. “He became an increasingly important symbol of the burgeoning counterculture” (DeCurtis). John went against the normal acts and beliefs of society and spoke out. He always expressed his true views and nothing else. This is because he believed in questioning authority and not conforming for anything.“[He] helped redefine the rules of acceptable behavior for rock stars” (DeCurtis). This once again shows his desire to stand out and speak out. He reformed many ideas and practices that needed reform and some that did not. But no matter what he was doing, it was always supporting the fight for peace. Even when it did not involve politics or the stand for peace, he acted differently from what was expected of him by the majority of the population. “How the chords can change the world. To me, that is John Lennon” (Ono 117). John thought that change was necessary, and he intended to do everything he could to insure that it happened. “A man who stood up!” (Ono 117). John expressed and conveyed his beliefs, no matter the consequences. His immense support of the fight for peace helped more and more people see a different side of the world.
John Lennon’s solo career was marked by experimentation and political activism. Most importantly, he proved that musicians could successfully reinvent and transform themselves, and carve out success on their own. To begin with John Lennon was a poor student and lasted only a year at art school, so thankfully music was a good back up plan. John Lennon would go on to put out albums such as “Power to the People” single and Imagine LP. These albums were more political and musically adventurous. Imagine was also marked by brutal honesty, between Lennon's admissions of cruel behavior on "Jealous Guy" and alleged digs at Paul McCartney throughout "How Do You Sleep?". Like everyone else in life, John Lennon had his ups and downs throughout the 1970’s. The albums Sometime In New York City and Mind Games did not replicate the success of his first two albums. Lennon was also trying to fight off being deported by the Nixon administration in 1973 due to his stance in politics. Things started to look up when his single “Whatever Gets You Through The Night” hit No. 1 in 1974. On December 8th, 1980, Mark David Chapman shot and killed Lennon outside his apartment in New York City. The entire world stopped to grief, and musical tributes poured in from all corners for years to come. John Lennon was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in

The Beatles consisted of four talented men: Paul McCartney, John Lennon, George Harrison and Richard Starkey. They had met at all different times and had one thing in common. They all loved music. McCartney, Lennon and Harrison all played guitar and Starkey, also known as Ringo Starr, played the drums. They started out as The Quarry Men, but eventually they changed the name to The Beatles. They played a lot together over the years and at many different places. They started out as a “teenybopper” band, as Russell Gibb put it. They were like the Jonas Brothers of the fifties. When they made their way to America, they became more popular. Gibb also noted that they grew up with their fans. They did well all through the sixties, but around 1965 tension gre...
The Beatles were the greatest and most influential act of the rock era. Although The Beatles’ fame accelerated in 1963, they began playing in Liverpool England in the late 50’s; where they grew up. Lennon impacted many around the world , his music and messages gave people an alternative outcome to the controversy of the Vietnam war. As Middleton stated people even suggested that “a major wold figure had died”. Rooney claims that “His impact remains universal, his influence undiminished”(349). This clearly proves John Lennon had a stong impact on the world.
The sixties and seventies were a time of war, peace and revolution, with “hippies” leading anti-war movements, and protests happening across the nation due to the administration of Richard Nixon and the Vietnam War. John Lennon originally a member of The Beatles, became a star in the anti-war subculture, and a hero to many, not only for his musicianship and the Beatle-mania that was spread across the country but for being a voice of the people. The Beatles were at the time, the voices of their generation and eventually became a product of their generation, with their songs highlighting the issues of the time. Even with the disbanding of The Beatles in 1969, Lennon continued to be a force in the culture, with his wife Yoko Ono and himself taking a prominent role in the media and movement against the war.
The story of the most legendary group in the history of popular music began in 1960, in Liverpool, England. The Beatles, were an English rock band, whose most well-known lineup, consisting of John Lennon, Paul McCartney, George Harrison, and Ringo Starr, is considered by many as the most innovative, emulated, and successful music group of the twentieth century. John Lennon was largely responsible for the development of the band, since he, together with Paul McCartney, wrote most of the music for the Beatles. Lennon is largely responsible for the Beatles being considered the first rock performers who were truly considered groundbreaking artists in their own time, and years after the band broke up, with his lyrics, “Beatlemania”, and the controversy that he caused the band.
More like who would the beatles be without John Lennon. The Beatles would not be the great band the world knows today without Lennon. "John Lennon was considered the leader of the Beatles since he started the band. The members of the Beatles are always referred to as: John, Paul, George, and Ringo." (Beatles BIO). This great boy band delivered the world with upbeat tunes that changed the music industry. If the Beatles never existed then there wouldn 't be the same music scene as today. Though the Beatles career only lasted seven years (1963-1970) their names will be marked in history forever (Kehe). The Beatles had a fast and steady rise to fame. They put forth a new type of sound that no other band could imitate. The Beatles achievements stated in this quote ”The Beatles released 13 original albums in Only 7 years. Never before or since has any rock band come close to that quantity and quality of output. For example, U2, one of the most popular bands of the day, has released 13 studio albums in 29 years” (Beatles Bio). As the Beatles grew so did their fan base. They had fans that came from all around the world. John got loads of hate for stating “ The beatles are bigger than Jesus” (Reid 2). The Beatles are an everlasting band explained in this quote by former manager in an interview of being asked will there ever be another
Beatles principle #1 teaches us that being a selfish glory seeker may not be the best path to achieve success. The book uses the example of a young John Lennon making the decision to partner with Paul McCartney, even though Paul’s musical talents were more developed than John’s. John could have simply ignored Paul, and continued being the center of attention in his own band. John realized early on that by spreading the spotlight, and including Paul, the two of them had a much better chance at achieving success, than John did by himself (Stainton, 2008).
Beatles founder, John Winston Lennon, started his epic rock journey on October 9, 1940 in England during the Second World War. At the young age of four, Lennons parents were separated and Lennon then moved with his aunt, MiMi. His mother visited him regularly and showed him how to play many musical instruments until she found a new husband. Elvis Presley was in his prime while Lennon was only sixteen years old. Elvis was a major influence to him. Lennon had was married twice during his live, first to Cynthia
It all started in Liverpool. On July 7, 1940 Ringo Starr was born as Richard Starkey. Not much later, on October 9, 1940 John Lennon was born as John Winston Lennon. Two years later, Paul McCartney was born as James Paul McCartney on June 18. Then on February 25, 1943 George Harrison was born. The early days of the Beatles were as a small group called the Quarry Men. John formed the group with his school friend Pete Shotton in March 1957; a few months later Paul joined (Spencer 12). In February 1958, George meets John and Paul and is invited to join the band.In late 1961, during a trip to Paris, John and Paul get a new hairstyle, the Beatles trademark – the ‘mop top.’ Then, in early 1962, the Beatles sign a management contract with Brian Epstein.
Before the Beatles were the Beatles, they were just normal musicians. John Lennon the person in charge of the band in the 50’s called the Quarry Men met Paul McCartney on July 6, 1957, where both musicians are performing in Skiffle Groups. After hearing Paul play at the concert John’s manager asked Paul if he would like to join the Quarry Men, Paul accepted his offer. Many musicians tried out to join the Quarry Men, however none of them made it. On February 6, 1958 George Harrison tried out by playing Raunchy and John made him become the newest member of the group. The members of the Quarry Men are; “John, Paul and George, with the addition of Johns Friend from art college, Stu Sutcliffe and a guitarist named Pete Best” (The Beatles pg. 1). They went off to Germany to get a better chance to become known and famous. While they are in Germany, Stu Sutcliffe decides to go back to college to get back into art which he is in love with and be with Astrid which he met in Germany. The members remaining in the Quarry Men group renamed their group and now their group calling it Silver Beatles and returned to Liverpool. As the group thought their luck was terrible, a young record storeowner in the late 1961, with the name of Brian Epstein, noticed the Beatles with their great musicians skills, he thought they have something unique to them (History of The Beatles pg. 1). The Silver Beatles held a tough ima...
