God 's forgiveness is based on his initiative of mercy, on the riches of God 's grace, and the free gift of God to us is Christ his son, not only Christ as the medium or channel through which the redemption or forgiveness reaches us, surely, Christ is the instrument through whom and whose work God 's forgiveness comes to us, but Christ having in Himself the forgiveness of God to us. God Himself "gave the only begotten Son" to die as a sacrifice for our sins, the forgiveness of God is accomplished in his giving of his son, and both the act of forgiveness and the forgiven ones are in the realm of Christ the given son, "God in Christ forgave us, that God forgave in Christ his only son, in giving Him to be a propitiation for our sins."
Chosen/Election and "In Christ"
Here, the election we talk about is not of Israel as a people for special privileges and for special service, or individuals to some office, or to the performance of some special service, but the election of individuals to be children of God and heirs of eternal glory. Forgiveness is empathy. I believe it means, putting ones self in the position of the other person, and wiping away any sort of resentment and antagonism we feel toward them. Forgiveness is a journey to freedom. Forgiveness works directly on the emotion of anger, resentment, hostility, and hatred by diminishing its intensity or level within the mind and heart. Only the one who is wronged can forgive.
