INFLUENCE & IMPACT In modern days, writers that make poems, plays and other writings use up to about 7,500 to 10,000 unique words. Back in Shakespeare’s time, he was known for using up to about 29.000 unique words in his works. On his own he developed nearly 3000 words in the English language. Shakespeare has written vulgar, comical, hateful, abominable and cruel insults that his audience can enjoy and relate to. Shakespeare’s insults were usually hidden in a cleverly produced fashion. People today say if Shakespeare had not evolved and demonstrated such an abundant amount of literature he mastered, he wouldn’t have had much of an impact on the English language or works of literature today. Shakespeare was defined as “Man of Words” because his ability to produce such popular and an intense style of vocabulary made him somewhat like a god of writing in his time. He was also known as The Bard of Avon (Great Poet) because of his gratitude of style.
