Even though “The Art of Social Media” was published in the end of 2014, some parts of information are starting to become outdated. For example, Pinterest provided difference services like promoted pins and payable pins for business to use, so the business could use these tools to better promote the product and brand awareness. Besides, there is no need to use the “Use Comments and +1s to Run Polls” function in the author’s example. The thing I need to do is choose the suitable platform based on my business and follow some guidelines provided. Besides, as the author written in the book, “No matter how smart you are, best practices always change, because the platforms change how their sites work”. (Guy Kawasaki, “The Art of Social Media”, 2014) So the best way for marketers is keep experimenting until find the most suitable way according to the requirements of the target customers on different platforms.
