People may think speech pathology is easy but it’s difficult unless knowledge is great. People get really overwhelmed when finding out what skills and classes are taken to become a speech pathologist. After people see the salary the eyes light up. Speech pathology is confirmed to be such a hard career most people do not major in it.
...ore to be learned. The important factor during the course of CJD is the patient. We as Speech Pathologists must ask ourselves a few questions. Was the best interests of the patient met for as long as they could have been? Was the family aware of any and all support and community groups available to them during this difficult time? If we as SLP's can answer these questions with a yes, then we have done our jobs indeed. To those who involoved with CJD, thank you. Because of the researchers, therapists, and families of CJD patients, we have the knowledge we have today. This knowledge will continue to grow, providing tests, screening measures and maybe some day a cure. To live with the hope that one day another person will not have to endure what sorrows you have can be a great motivation.
LSVT is a very unique form of voice therapy in that it focuses on several very simple tasks that are designed to maximize the client’s phonation and respiratory functions. (Countrymen et al.) Spielman et all2007 indicated that the standard course of treatment was an extensive treatment schedule of one hour a day, four days a week, for four consecutive weeks. The basis of the treatment regime boils down to overcoming the perception among clients with PD that there is nothing wrong with their speech, and than utilizing intensive sensorimotor training to help them to recognize and use increased effort and louder speech in their day-to-day communication. Even though I have only been in college for one semester I feel like I have done something very significant. I have met a person with a disorder, but they are unaware that they have this disorder. This person is a child and he can not speak. I have also experienced a feeling I have never had before. As a speech pathology major, I decided to join a club geared towards speech production
Speech-language pathology is the science concerned with the diagnosis and treatment of functional and organic speech defects and disorders. Speech-language pathologists, also known as SLPs or speech therapists, often work as part of team, providing referrals to speech doctors known as audiologists. This job is extremely challenging and requires people possessing certain qualities to be an efficient speech therapist. Speech-language pathology also requires an excellent education and special skills (Careers in Speech-Language NP). I would like to pursue this career because most SLPs work with children that have special needs. These children have a special place in my heart, and I feel like this is a way I can do my part to assist them in having the best life possible.

The Deaf community has dealt with and are currently dealing with many hardships in their lifetime. One of the struggles they are presently facing today is the term audism. Audism is one of the types of isms, where the hearing community believe that they are superior because they are able to hear.
There are many types of tests speech language pathologists (SLPs) use for diagnosing and assessing clients. Case history, informal and formal assessments, and conversation samples are some examples of the numerous factors that are critical when diagnosing a client as impaired, delayed, or typical. Norm-referenced standardized tests are one of the more reliable measures of assessment because the results are objective and can determine whether a client is performing within normal limits. Many conclusions can be made from the scores on standardized tests, one of them is age-equivalent scores. Age equivalent scores signify the mean or median score as a result of a normative sample for a certain age group. In general, age-equivalent scores are used
