The Boston Massacre was an event when the British Soldiers in Boston started to shoot a group of American Colonists. This happened on March 5, 1770. The British Soldiers killed 5 people in total which is a small amount of people compared to other massacres. This event occurred because the British placed an act called the Townshend Act which was an act where taxes would be placed on tea, wood, paper, glass, paint, and lead. The American colonies did not like this act because they felt it was a violating their rights.
