In popular culture, we see alcohol as a medium to release inhibitions and socialize. The consumption of alcohol is major social activity that is practiced all around the world. It is seen as a custom when individuals become of age, but when does drinking alcohol become more of a burden than a fun activity? The consumption of alcohol can be seemingly innocent but, over time, can cause many health problems. We [as a culture] glorify the consumption of it, without much thought to the effects it has on our bodies.
Alcohol is thought to give them false courage needed to face life. They are not capable of feeling self-assured to function in real life. Another cause may be a social factor. Many alcoholics start and begin moderately due to social or peer encouragement. They build up craving and demand leading to increasing consumption.

How we perceive drinking and continue drinking can be determined by the drinking habits we see, either by who we drink with, or the attitudes about drinking we learn over the years. The chances of people drinking in ways that can harm others and ultimately themselves can be seen by the correlation of educational lessons, cultural beliefs and the usage of alcohol. Looking at all the possibilities, the complex question we must ask is why do people drink? Is it through their defiance of law, the accessibility of alcohol, teachings of others or the values set in place in their society? Every society has its own views on how the consumption of alcohol should be handled and regulated.
It makes them constantly think about alcohol and ways to obtain it. When a person is under the influence of alcohol it makes them do foolish things that they would not have done in their normal state of mind. It can also lead to serious depression. Alcohol may seem like a good time but the fact of the matter is it’s an extremely serious depressant. Being in a state of depression caused by alcohol could lead to severe anger issues and suicide.
Being an alcoholic is the point where someone cannot mentally or physically go without a drink (Edwards). Also, when someone makes the choice to try and stop the drinking issue, they begin to go through withdrawal symptoms (Edwards). Alcohol is one of the most abused substance in the world. Social environment plays a big role in alcohol use. Initially the first drink is typically a social drink. When a person is out with friends and having a good time. When questioning an individual about their drinking status in the medical field answers are given as social, occasional and daily drinkers.

College students consuming alcohol has become a persistent problem in America. As we all know, alcohol is a product that has provided a variety of functions for people in the world, especially in twenty first century, it is widely used in socializing, chemically, and medicinally. Although drinking alcohol can benefit peoples in enhancing the enjoyment and quality of life, but massive of consumption could lead to addictions which may cause the negative impact in our life, such as small issues like having headache the next day, losing your job, or more serious of consequences such as negative impact in a relationship, family, and lost of life.
Underage drinking has become very common especially it has become common in a sense that the minors and adults like to take in closed doors. They drink commonly before going out. This is called pre-partying. Mostly people who oppose underage drinking think that if it has to happen it should be taken in a controlled environment so that the condition can be controlled
Human nature is of course is to either make money off of, or enjoy to the heart’s content and available substance. Today’s culture of social media, celebrity heroes, and pressure to fit in has driven many people, young and old, to drink. The effects of alcohol are what drive many over people to drink. Euphoria, forgetfulness, playfulness, social confidence, and courage are all some of the feelings many gain from consumption. Many people, especially new drinkers or teenagers do not understand the danger and adverse effects the alcohol has not only from long term but also short term consumption.
