The Advantageous Life of Bill Gates

When one hears the name Bill Gates they proximately think of a Billionaire and Philanthropist, one who has thrived in every challenge life has thrown at him. Gates left a university like Harvard and a set future to chase a pipe dream, which at the time would seem to any man as futile. What 'history' tells the world is that Gates persevered through trials time and again, to single-handedly build an empire known throughout the world as Microsoft. What many don’t know is that Bill Gates had advantages over all his peers (i.e. Steve Jobs) during the course of his ‘odyssey.’ Those recompenses have influenced Gates progress and his eventual triumph as a technology-mogul.
As a child Bill Gates was bred to believe that winning was everything, no matter what the cost. "It didn't matter whether it was hearts or pickleball or swimming to the dock ... there was always a reward for winning and there was always a penalty for losing.” (Manes 18) This led him to want to prosper above all his fellow students, which in turn made his affluent family to transfer him to an exclusive elementary school. Gates’ school bought an ASR terminal and his interest in programming let him to be exempted from his math class to pursue his curiosity, a privilege not given to the typical student. Furthermore, this privilege gave him the opportunity to tinker with the ASR terminal (a device available to few at the time) and hone his expertise. He also hacked into the security system so he could restart the meter that traced computer use (allowing him far more time than any of his peers) and even crashed the terminal for fun. ...e had poor social skills and would never have found a need to become a bouncer, and would rather use his intellect to perhaps achieve a success higher then the one Gates has now. But in Gates defense, not many people have his drive to succeed and use everything that has been handed to them effectively.
Time and time again, Bill Gates’ advantages have abetted him to prosper in life and achieve the mantle of success. He was handed a knighthood (an honor only given to people who have ‘worked’ and excelled in their profession) by the Queen of England. Furthermore, when he faced an arrest his affluent family came to protect him once again. Even the time Gates was born was lucky as he come of age subsequently to the start of the Information Age. The story of William Henry Gates III illustrates that opportunity trumps talent by a great margin. Just ask Christopher Langan.
