Abortion, one of the most controversial issues in the United States today, should remain legal because it helps to regulate population levels, keep unwanted children from being born, neglected, beaten or abandoned and in some cases it can also reduce divorce rates. Abortions can be practical for potential parents who do not have the money, time or experience to raise a child at this point in time in their life (especially teenagers). Women who have been raped also may have an abortion because she can not bear to a child that she did not willing conceive. Abortions are further more used to save the life of the mother. Abortion is defined as, the induced termination of a pregnancy followed by the death of the embryo or fetus.
Currently the latest issue facing the anti-abortion movement is the termination of late term pregnancies also called “partial birth abortions”. When discussing the abortion topic you should know about the two main players. Women have been fighting for their rights for many years, and to allow somebody to take even one of those right away is unthinkable to me, and I am a guy what do you think women would say about this. I think that it is put best in a statement from Planned Parenthood “Abortion is never an easy decision, but women have been making that choice for thousands of years, for many good reasons”(parenthood).

On the other hand, those in favor of abortion, “Pro-choice”, feel it is the right of the individual to make the decision for themselves. No issue brings out so much passion and hatred of the other side. Any court decisions related to abortion regularly bring protestors from both sides. Those who think abortion should be generally illegal typically use terms such as "unborn baby." According to Webster's College Dictionary, the word "baby" can apply before birth, but this usage is medically inaccurate and tends to evoke a warm sentiment.
They believe that no one has the power to take command of another’s life, mainly an infant, which is dependent on others for survival during the initial stages of life. In addition, to the fact that abortions kill innocent human beings, anti-abortionists believe that they also damage the mental, as well as physical condition of the mother. In the United States, the issue of abortion is extremely controversial that matters to not only medical field but also political and social fields. Pro-life (illegal abortion) advocates state that; life begins at conception, so the fetus is entitled to have a full human right to live; abortion is a crime of murder; women should use contraceptives in the means of preventing pregnancies; abortion increases the likelihood of future side-effects. On the other hand, pro-choice (legal abortion) advocates argue that; it is women’s rights to control their own bodies without any interference; abortion does not kill a baby, but just ends a pregnancy; modern abortion is safe because it is performed by professions in a safe setting; women who choose abortion do not have ability to raise children. These two sides over the issue are strained since long time ago. However, again, v... ... middle of paper ... ...ational Library of Medicine, Spring 2009.
