The 2000s. History can look back at the 2000s as the era of technology. Computers, phones, television, and etc. rapidly began to improve and be part of the American lifestyle. The decade in which social media blossomed in which connected the whole world together. Sites like facebook and twitter kept everyone up to date with news and the best way to stay in contact with family members that may be at a long distances. Music also became an easy asset to everyone with the inventions of the mp3 player and its more successful rival, the ipod. The 2000s was even an era were history was made from Halle Berry being the very first African American to ever win an Oscar, to the Boston Red Sox breaking a curse by winning the franchise first world series. A day no American that was around for that time to ever forget. The day U.S was under attack by a foreign terrorist group known as Al-Qaeda. Their plan of attack was hijacking planes and using them as weapons to crash into U.S landmarks. Two of the hijacked planes were on course to New York City for their designated targets: the World Trade Center (History, n.d.). At 8:46am, the first plane makes its impact into the north tower killing everyone on board and hundreds of people inside the building (History, n.d.). At 9:03am, the second plane collides into the south tower, confirming that the country is under attack by terrorist (History, n.d.). The third plane was on its way to Washington D.C with its final destination in route: the Pentagon (History, n.d.). The collision took place into the western wall killing 59 aboard the plane and 125 inside (History, n.d.). The fourth plane however didn’t reach its destination. After hearing about the attacks in New York and D.C., the passengers took action to take back control of the plane from the hijackers (History, n.d.).
