This research fully informs about the role of culture and language in intercultural communication in Thailand contexts. It begins with some background informations of English and characterization of English language teaching in Asia. This is followed by English language use in Thailand. Thailand has the national and official language is Thai and several minority languages. Although there is no official second language, English is used alongside Thai in a wide range of areas both in education and for media, business, tourism, and political signs. Because of the overwhelming influence of English, It is necessary to develop cultural awareness skill for both Thai learners and teachers to completely successful intercultural communication. To approach that skill, it is need to exploring and insights into their context and other contexts. Besides, There are five areas that can be opportunities to develop cultural awareness in Thai ELT classroom including: exploring their own culture (Thai culture), exploring language text book, exploring the usual broadcasting and arts such as movies, TV, radio, newspapers, novels, and magazines, exploring technology like the internet, e-mail and chat room, having a close connection with people from other…show more content…
Thus, the culture-loaded words can facilitate text comprehension significantly. The researcher discovers that the participants build the story with culture-loaded words from the perspective of the native culture. Consequently, culture-loaded words awareness is an enormous importance in the interpretation of literature texts; however, it should not be exaggerated in teaching practice. It can be an essential supplement to vocabulary teaching that can arouse the awareness of students about words’ connotative meaning to develop their systematic language learning
