Throughout this class, I have learned and worked on skills that I feel have made me a better writer and reader. By taking this class, I feel that I have become better at textual analysis of works throughout different time periods, I have learned how to discuss literary works among my peers both in class and online, and through the work in class I feel like I have become a better writer. I really enjoyed the textual analysis done in class. It was fun looking at a text and thinking about the history behind it, and the author’s intentions behind parts of the text. It has also been fun seeing how literary works in different time periods show the same traits and adhere to roughly the same ideals. Textual analysis will help me greatly in my academic life at Hamline. It will also be helpful in my life moving forward to break down a text and look at its elements. It will help me in my writing to see those elements, and apply some of them to my own writing. The textual analysis skills that I have learned in class will be interesting to apply to my own writing in the future, so that my audience will come to the same conclusions I have drawn about my work. …show more content…

The assignments in class help me think about what I would do with a text as a writer and as a reader. The assignments also help me to break up a text, so I can see what specific parts about it I am interested and would be interested in writing more about. Writing about texts helps take a closer look at it and draw conclusions about it, and it takes sufficient skills as a writer to communicate to an audience a specific way I interpreted the text. It is also very interesting in class to read multiple works by the same author and seeing their style of writing come to life. Looking at style and language helps me to figure out what style and language I would want to incorporate into my writing, which I feel makes my work
