Recommended: Dangers of driving and texting

Drivers die more often in texting while driving accidents than people who are driving under the influence. Drunk driving is very dangerous but they still have knowledge of what they are doing. You have to look away from the road to send a text or dial a number. Texting while driving in Oklahoma and anywhere else in the world needs to be stopped, the lives of others would be saved. Statistics all around America are very high due to people not even taking the chance to clearly not think of what they are doing. There are Oklahoma laws that have been put into action but not to ban texting while driving, they are still trying and will not stop. It is a win or lose situation it puts many people at risk. This is a big ongoing issue and hopefully someday it will be banned all around America and anywhere else in the world. Texting while driving should be banned in all of the states that have not banned it yet, including Oklahoma. Drivers that are distracted are the number one cause of car crashes in America. (“Texting While Driving Accident”) This means that people feel the need to pick up their phones just to reply to a simple text message and next thing that happens is someone’s life could possibly be taken. As a result more than 3,000 car crashes happen occasionally due to texting while driving. (Van Wey) Oklahoma is one the states out of 9 who have not yet banned texting while driving a vehicle. (Southern) The senator thinks that the reason Oklahoma has not yet banned texting while driving is because new technology allows people to speak out texts and basically tell our phone what to do without taking our eyes of the phone.
