Computers play a huge part in society these days. People either have their phone, PDA, or a laptop on them at most times. These are all computers in some way and people tend to form a relationship or an obsession with them. It’s interesting that we form this relationship or obsession with something that is so similar to us. If you think about it computers are a lot like the human body. In this essay I will tell you about how computers and humans are very similar. Humans have all these different parts working together to keep you alive and functioning. Computers work the same way having multiple pieces jammed into a single unit all working together to function properly. These multiple pieces are: the Motherboard, Central Processing Unit, Graphics Processing Unit, Fans, Mouse, Monitor, Hard Drive, Rapid Storage Memory (RAM) Card, Wiring, Case, Keyboard, and Power Supply. The Motherboard of a computer acts almost as the nervous system of the human body. As the brain thinks and tells actions it routes through the nervous system to perform the action. The motherboard connects every piece of the computer together and routes all information to its desired location intended. The Central Processing Unit, also known as the CPU, is relative to the brain of a person. The brain commands the body to do actions and processes information. Without the CPU in the computer, it could not function at all. The CPU processes all information and sends it through the motherboard to the proper location. The Monitor acts as the head of the body. The head contains the facial features and stores the brain at the top. Though the CPU does not reside in the monitor, the monitor does contain the face. The face is projected from the head. It is optional for a ... ... middle of paper ... ...ation to each or the parts. The Power Supply acts as the heart pumping power to the whole unit. The power supply does not connect everything through the wires like the heart and veins do but it does function the same as the heart. The power supply produces the necessary amounts of voltage to each part of the system to let each part function. Finally the Case that is similar to the body. The body is one single unit that holds all the functioning pieces inside of it. The computer case holds all the parts except for the extruding parts just like the human body, for example: the head. The case comes in many shapes and forms just like people. Humans and computers are similar in many ways. The only major difference between us and computers is we have a conscious. If it wasn’t for a conscious, they could probably become very much alive as we are, or as we see in movies.

In this essay, the author

  • Explains that computers play a huge part in society these days, and people form an obsession with them. computers and humans are very similar.
  • Explains that computers work the same way having multiple pieces jammed into a single unit all working together to function properly.
  • Explains that the motherboard connects every piece of the computer together and routes all information to its desired location intended.
  • Explains that the central processing unit, also known as the cpu, is relative to the brain of a person. the brain commands the body to do actions and processes information.
  • Explains that the monitor acts as the head of the body. the head contains facial features and stores the brain at the top.
  • Explains that the graphics processing unit (gpu) acts as the face. the gpu displays through the monitors’ screen to show the information or how the computer is acting.
  • Explains that fans and lungs both breathe to keep the body running and circulate blood, whereas fans ‘breathe’ to cool the inside and prevent overheating.
  • Explains that the mouse and keyboard are the computers way to interact with the world or just us.
  • Explains that memory is stored in the brain, but the hard drive is not. memory is needed to live and move forward.
  • Explains that rapid storage memory, also known as ram, acts as our short term memory. it quickly grabs information and holds on to it for however long it is useful. cookies are an exception to this.
  • Explains that the wires connect each piece of the computer together all leading back to the motherboard.
  • Explains that the power supply acts as the heart pumping power to the whole unit. the power supply does not connect everything through the wires like heart and veins do, but it does function the same.
  • Explains that the computer case holds all the parts except for the extruding parts just like the human body.
  • Explains that humans and computers are similar in many ways, but humans have a conscious. if it wasn't for conscious, computers could probably become very much alive as we are.
