I was enlivened when we were going to see “The Tell-Tale Heart”. Unfortunately, I was very disappointed. The play did have some accuracy, but too many differences for me to truly enjoy. Let us begin with the similarities. In both versions, the madman carefully hid the body under three floor boards. He also made sure that no blood got anywhere other than the bucket, as he said on the second page, saying, “There was nothing to wash out- no stain of any kind- no blood-spot whatever. Thought the entire story there is a constant uncanny element, the unreliable narrator, and with it the questioning reader. In “The Tell-Tale Heart” by Edgar Allan Poe, the reader is forced to think whether they should believe the ramblings of a crazy and unreliable narrator or not. This really brings out the uncanny in the story.
This stance fails to consider the reasoning why the author might be insane. If he was insane why would he pay attention so close to details. "I then took up three pieces of wood from the flooring, and placed his body parts under the room. I then replaced the wooden boards so well that no human eye not even his could have seen anything wrong". In summarization reader isn't looking at his thinking through the whole story.
In conclusion, Tell tale heart is one of the best stories and should stay as a middle school standard. there was raising action filled with suspense. An change from almost insane to completely insane. There was a climax to a beautiful story. Yeah it contains violence but that what make horror stories horror, and besides i can think of a story far more violent than this one. This story is great so i hope it is never taken out of the 8th grade

When an author creates a situation where the central character tells his own account, the overall impact of the story is heightened. The narrator, in this story, adds to the overall effect of horror by continually stressing to the reader that he or she is not mad, and tries to convince us of that fact by how carefully this brutal crime was planned and executed. The point of view helps communicate that the theme is madness to the audience because from the beginning the narrator uses repetition, onomatopoeias, similes, hyperboles, metaphors and irony.

How can we justify a man is mad or not? A man may talk like a wise man, and yet act like a mad man. In Poe’s "The Tell-Tale Heart", the narrator depicted a story that he killed the old man because of the old man’s so-call "evil eye" which made his blood run cold. Althought the narrator tried to persuade the reader that he was normal, several pieces of evidence of confusing illusion and reality adequately indicates his madness and absurdity. By examining his behaviour and mind, I will expound his madness thoroughly.

He tries to prove that he is sane throughout the entire short story that he is not mad. For example, he was very wary during the seven days that he stalked the old man, he felt an intense amount of guilt, and that he made this brilliant plan of murder.
